The decibels when he got past the first wave. Couldn’t even hear Mitch. Man those were great days. The optimism of 93 and 95. If Lin could have kicked a field goal vs the Colts. The fun of the season then the depression of the offseason. lol. Mahomes has taken all that away. This was back when the average Joe could afford to go. I think it was louder then than it gets during today’s games. Love these old videos.

Let’s make sure to give Coach Marty the due credit in KC Chiefs resurgence. It’s easy to look back and gripe about Martyball but he planted the seeds I think here for the discipline and tradition that had been missing. He reminded everyone that KC can be something more than what we were in the 80’s. We had some rough years after he left but the core players he developed were the bridge in the 2000’s to the 2010’s to bring us to where we are w Coach Reid. I for one was happy we got him and I’ll argue all day long that we are here today because of his influence and guidance.

HELL yes. I remember this just like yesterday and it was magic on another level. People who complain about Marty Schottenheimer really need to check themselves and focus on all the amazing moments we were fortunate enough to experience in the Roaring Nineties.
@kertsytКүн бұрын
Seriously. When Schottenheimer started coaching the Chiefs, all of the sudden Arrowhead stadium got really, REALLY LOUD. Not a coincidence, and it never got quiet again. The loudness you hear today with Mahomes, Kelce, Jones, etc., all had its origins in the early 90s. Maybe he didn't bring a Lombardi trophy, but Marty Schottenheimer brought LOUDNESS to Kansas City.

One of a handful of games that I will never forget. My ears rang for three days after that game! Arrowhead is still a special place and an incredible atmosphere, but it was even better in the 1990's when the crowd was still mostly average Joe's. We used to stand the entire game down on the field level (our seats were in section 116) and we would scream at the top of our lungs and beat the hell out of the seat backs of the seats in front of us when the defense was on the field. I'm pretty damn sure that Arrowhead was even louder than 142.2 dB back then, especially when Vanover returned that punt in overtime. Those teams broke our hearts, but us old heads will never forget them.
