I would love there to be greater accountability around robbo. Guru sometimes alludes to the fact robbo has really struggled despite having a stacked squad these past few years. He Can’t even get close to Penrith and Melbourne despite signing the key momentum player from each one (cheese and leniu). He is responsible for signing lodge, cheese, Kyle Flanagan - all of whom did not work out at all. He resigned sitili to big deal then turfed him to dogs. He resigned may then turfed him to tigers. He throws stones from glass houses in his pressers. He is protected from journo’s by uncle nick (as Brent read admitted on James graham pod). And he continues to raid other teams for their elite talent (Robson, don young, teddy, Cronk, Jennings, sbw, chriton). Sure he has credits in bank from earlier when he went on a signing spree to buy comp but I don’t see why he’s even in same convo as Bellamy, Cleary and Wayne.

Tbf, lodge was really good in 2022 lol. I don’t remember why he was pushed out, but I thought he was definitely good at the roosters

Fully agree. If he was at a club without all his superstar players he would be the first coach sacked in the season. With their roster over the years they really should have at least made it to more grand finals.
@GOATTT2613Күн бұрын
@@tygarrr11 facts, I’m a roosters fan and I think he’s severely overrated. His player selections and some of the tactics he uses for the attack have been awful over the last couple years. Trying hutcho at centres was disgusting, taking all season to realise last year Sua’ali’i was better fitted on the wing. Playing Egan butcher at second row for too long last year even when he’s a better middle. Radley at second row made 0 sense since he started the season off as one of the best locks in the comp. The inconsistent minutes to Terrell may. Playing sideways in attack too much in 2022-2023. Not utilising Manu enough. Far out can go on, so many weapons at his disposal yet I feel like barely any of them were used to their full potential
@mathiaslaskic6594Күн бұрын
@@GOATTT2613 for me, it is obvious Sam Walker does not have a big enough boot to win a grinding sort of match against the top teams. Keary also didn’t have a big enough boot for those games. Add to that the fact both are liabilities in defence. Therefore it made little sense for robbo to have the team playing the way they played. Indeed, you would think cheese (who doesn’t pass or kick well from dummy half) wouldn’t be the right fit when both halves + fullback need the ball and none can kick long.

I think it’s important to remember the circumstances in which Luai signed his deal with the Tigers. He signed a month after they had completely changed their front office, and before they had filled out the board with new members. He also signed before they went on the recent spree of good signings, and before Lachlan Galvin had his breakout. From his perspective he was on his own, it was only till after one year that the club had shown him that they were capable of getting him help

Random idea to somewhat solve the inconsistency with ref decisions - how about the on field ref reviews the tries / captains challenges similar to what the do in soccer? Old mate makes draws a rectangle with his fingers, runs to the side of the field and then re watches the play or moment and makes a final decision. Removes the bunker vs on field different opinions and gives some consistency for that one game being managed solely by that one ref. You could still have a ‘bunker’ watching and notifying the ref of potential late foul play and what not that could be done in back play but still notify old mate on the field with the whistle so he can run off, double check it’s actually ‘foul play’ for his standard and that game and then go from there.

Terrell May has to be a culture thing. You can see it’s shifted somewhat with in the last 1-2 years with the Polynesian / west Sydney culture leaking in. And I just don’t think the chooks want that to define them. Robbo can say he’s a good bloke but that doesn’t mean he was a good fit for their culture and influence on the young ones coming through. Not saying it’s right or wrong either way.

Terrell May had to be a salary cap thing. What style of play does he not suit? He has everything - big, mobile, fit, good ball playing. He’d work great even with a bulldogs style smaller pack because he’s good enough laterally.

Great job Guys. Entertaining all thru. Here’s hoping for The Mighty Tigers to get The Cheese too , just can’t help thinking he’d slot in to Benji and Richos plans perfectly. Imagine if we had Luai and Galvin either side of Api with The Cheese running off any of them at any play they want and in D he could play Galvins bodyguard like Locky used to have with TC The Chin. Thinking lock is his better position now going forward as he gets older.

I think the Roosters have just really messed up this trade market in the offseason and i think purely its the wrong decision to let go of May, regardless of whatever excuse they come up with to let him go. Makes no sense to let go of a talent like him. He's quickly turning into an elite forward. Already an international and wouldn't shock to see him playing origin within the next couple years too. Makes zero sense to me. But as a Tigers fan, i couldn't be happier 😄 their loss is our gain so thanks for the gift Roosters. Usually its been the Tigers recruitment team in the past making dumb decisions 😂

It should be noted that the Cowboys dug their heels in during the Robson negotiations because they are high as hell on the young gun #9 they have coming through their junior ranks. I don't think it's anywhere near simple as "Cowboys lose, Roosters win." Interesting to see how that pans out.

Beaks bag: Do you think the NRL bunker system could reimplement a ‘benefit of the doubt’ decision? Similar to the older style video referee decision on screen we saw in the mid 2000’s. It’s at least an acknowledgement of the doubt when the decision is likely to be controversial. Understandably, there will be some pushback and may be difficult to implement. However, it at least makes the bunker somewhat more accountable and could, potentially, avoid a weekly Graham Annesly apology. Thanks fellas! - Damo S

@MrFACTZ12 If cheese was to play mostly 13 then i don't mind it as a tigers fan, but personally don't want him as a 9 if Da Silva is at the club cause he's a future star 9 it seems and he's also the kid we've kept at hooker to develop etc after letting go of a couple hookers in recent years. I'd rathar Da Silva at 9 then Cheese personally. It feels he has a big future in the game and wouldn't want to risk losing him by signing Cheese to play hooker
@balmaintilidieКүн бұрын
Exactly what I’ve been saying. Even if he plays lock he’s too quality to not be chasing him big time. Imagine the creativity of Galvin n Luai either side of Api with Cheese running off whoever they want. A more roving Benji style Offence. And an excellent bodyguard for Galvin in D like Locky used to have with The Chin.
@Shad0w5carabКүн бұрын
I’d take him as a lock but not as a hooker; I’d rather Da Silva get those minutes. He’s a Tiger through and through, had success in juniors alongside Galvin and could be our hooker for the next 10-15 years as opposed to Cheese who, with all respect, would probably take a big contract from us then wouldn’t hesitate to move on.

Crazy how they brushed May out but wanted leniu instead lmao. Not disrespect, but May has a higher ceiling imo compared to leniu. Can play a substantially more minutes, he’s fitter, has an offload, better run meter numbers and post contact. Better ball playing and footwork and overall more layers to his game. Lenius a fireball for sure, but his only real assest is his agressive ball running. No offload, no ball playing, and minutes are still a question with him. I get he played origin and all that, but that was based on his form in the last few years. He was only exclusively used for impact in origin, whereas May can be one of the best starting and impact players. I personally don’t see how they’ve kept leniu over him

Beaks Bag- If Jarome Luai were to take the tigers to a premiership over the course of his career, where does that leave his legacy in rugby league. Personally, 4 straight comps plus success with one of the worst sporting franchises of the past decade and a half would edge him into HOF and possibly immortality for me. Obviously massively speculative, but given the fact that he is so polarising I wonder if people could ever throw him in that conversation.
