+thomas smyth the message behind is that there are stereotypes like when he says "There's only certain things that a boy can feel." Referring to boys aren't aloud to show there emotions and "So fix her hair and stand her tall or else she'll be invisible forget she has a heartbeat." Meaning that people tend to forget girls are human or "there's only certain things a girl can do." Meaning it's frowned upon when a girl does guy things. At least that's what I inferred I know it might be a little to late to reply but I hope that helped.
