You sound like you're very comfortable with them, Stephan! Top to bottom, they seem to work well and in the end, that's what matters. I've been playing on the same brand/strength of reeds on both alto and tenor (heck, sop. too) for.....yikes.....at least 25-30 yrs and while I've tried my fair share of different brands/strengths over the years, I always come back to what I'm most familiar and comfortable with. Curious......I assume you were playing on something different prior to these. Why the switch?

I have been playing Select Jazz reeds for many years but have had a lot of entire boxes of duds over the last couple of years. These are quite different and definitely took some getting used to. I've tried to switch a couple of times before but this time I promised myself to stick with them for a couple of months and now that I'm used to them a little better I really like them.

@@Stephan-Kammerer Yup.....maddening, isn/t it? My "poison of choice" are LaVoz Hard and while I can sadly say the same regarding duds, there's no other brand of reed I personally get along with better. This whole reed topic is a huge can 'o worms. In my opinion, reed prep/storage is something I've come to realize as incredibly important too. Again.....you sound great on them and ride that horse as long as you can!

@@jrgreiner Thanks John!! Yes, absolutely maddening haha! I've used Lavoz a lot myself as well. Over the last few years it's been Select jazz with some LaVoz in the mix. I think I've successfully transitioned to the Rigotti or reeds like Roberstos that are made by Rigotti now. What was was the most difficult for me was getting used to what the reeds do over their life time. I'm so used to the life of a Select Jazz that I feel comfortable knowing that I won't have any surprises on the gig. These last longer but seem to get pretty dull in their final phase and that is something I still need to get used to so I don't end up with unpleasant surprises when it matters :-)

Beautiful sound. Great chops! How would you compare these reeds to D'Addario Jazz Select and Vandoren. I'm currently playing in Jazz Select 2M and 2H. Thank you!

Thanks! I find them more free blowing, and I find more good ones in a box so I'm saving some $$ using these. I played select jazz unfiled for many years and love them when I find a good one but that one good one became harder to find. In some boxes I could use almost all reeds but I've also had series of boxes 2 to 3 boxes in a row that were all bad so I've given up on those for now. I like the Rigotti's now that I'm more used to them but it took me a while to get used to them.
