I have owned this device for about 3 weeks. One of my fish only tanks (50 gallon) is overrun with Aiptasia. I have used all of the various chemical treatments e.g. Aiptasia X, etc but from my experience those are hit or miss. Yes they will kill Aiptasia but in my case I ending up with more Aiptasia after using. I tried the file fish, peppermint shrimp; as well as Berghia Nudibranch. Unfortunately, the Berghia were eaten by the file fish. So I moved the fish to a another tank and decided to let So I just decided to let this tank be used Reef Delete experiment before I take the tank down. Based on my experience, unless the aiptasia is very small, this is not a one shot and done solution and this isn't a solution to my problem Based on the number I have in this tank, I could spend weeks eradicating Aiptasia one by one. I have a lot in this 50 gallon. Small Aiptasia one 20-30 second shot and they are finished. Larger ones i.e. 1"-2" will take at least three treatments. The one plus over the chemical solutions is that when they are hit with the UV their spores/eggs are also hit so they don't send out multiple babies as might happen with Aiptasia X or other treatments i.e. if you don't hit that Aiptasia just right with the chemical treatments or hot water, the Aiptasia will release spores/eggs in its defense. With this device the spores are killed. As far as the charger, it didn't bother me as I have several cables but I also have several tactical flashlights which use the same size batteries and I own a battery charger so I don't recharge the battery on the device I just swap batteries. I will say that this is a very well built unit. I also agree that a laser pointer would be useful. I experimented with the provided targeting card to gauge how close I need to be to the anemone based on its size. In my case I don't see the need for another person. I've had no problem targeting the anemone. In closing, if this was a $100-150 dollars cheaper this would be a must have especially for the reefer who needs to eradicate and Aiptasia within a coral colony i.e. the closer one gets the smaller the kill zone.

Hi Rob - you've got it spot on. Reef Delete wasn't ever intended as a one shot deal because that's not how the UVC technology works, unless the organism is small, weak or thin. We always envisaged Reef Delete as a spot control tool, if you have a huge infestation it will of course take time but you'll get there where other treatments or methods have failed. Sometimes you need to take drastic measures if things have just got out of control - this isnt the tool for that. Unless you have a lot of time to kill a lot! That said, you often needs to spend hundreds in chemicals to do huge infestations and they only treat one species... and you're putting a ton of chemicals in you dont need. Furthermore - its not just Aiptasia we can treat.. all sorts of stuff where treatments aren't available :). When a little patch of hair algae creeps in..... blast it.. when hydroids or pest sponges come along... blast it...! :)

Very interesting! Your point on having some sort of LED pointer is really important, especially if you are trying to ZAP aiptasia that is sitting close to your corals.

@@catherinepalmer2620 here's a video on kalkwasser paste how I use it to kill aptasia kzbin.info/www/bejne/bGS1fGaIirCspqs what you do put some kalkwasser in a paper cup I would wear a mask for safety you don't want to breathe kalkwasser dust you add water to the kalkwasser and keep mixing it till it's sort of a pasty consistency not watery then you get a syringe and inject some of that kalkwasser paste into the syringe and then inject it slowly over the aptasia the high pH will kill aptasia instantly just remember kalkwasser paste is regular kalkwasser made into a pasty consistency you can watch my video how I kill aptasia just remember I do this be careful not to get the kalkwasser paste on your corals and I recommend to turn off all your pumps for about 10 to 15 minutes the kalkwasser paste will harden up right over the aptasia if you have any questions at all hit me up and I will try to help you watch my video if you decide to try this method use at your own risk this method works for me!!!!!!!! Your results May Vary if you have any questions hit me up and I'll try to help you thank you

Lithium batteries are dangerous when they're stored both at the highest voltage, and lowest voltage. Somewhere in the middle is best to store it safely. Also with high output UV light, it's always best to buy REPUTABLE safety glasses. Usually companies will skimp out on that. You only have one set of eyes, and all vision damage is permanent.

The flaw in the reef delete is the button. It needs to be a switch that stays on. My fingers die after 20 seconds with this button depressed. This is especially true when you have to hold it at awkward angles. The other flaw, is this thing does not work on aiptasia bigger than an eraser head, i don't care if you blast the thing for five minutes. And multiple days of blasts isn't effective either. It's fine for very small aiptasia. that's it. know that if you buy.
