My name was welded onto one of those structures in 2016. Someday I hope to come back and (hopefully) find it covered in corals!

Fantastic example of how ocean conservation and restoration of coral reefs can go hand in hand with local economic opportunities. Great idea for a present for someone you really care about! Interesting technical aspect is the fact that the corals grow on steel structures; also elsewhere in the world, corals seem to grow particularly well on steel structures, e.g. on oil & gas installations in the Northern North Sea and in the Gulf of Mexico (Lophelia Pertusa coral).

Congratulations for showing the world what can be accomplished when dedicated people work together, use common sense and find and implement the correct solution instead of throwing boulders and rocks in the water. Biorock is the way by helping the natural process of coral growth.

It is my understanding Chris at Reefseen has been involved or may have even started this movement in this bay. Reefseen also supports a turtle hatchery. Go see Chris, wealth of knowledge and has been there for a very very long time.

Just seeing this comment. You are completely right, this is exactly what we concluded years ago, but you are the first to notice it from the video! But is NOT due to ionizing calcium or bicarbonate in the water, the mechanism is very different.

I think the coral reef will grow more if they put in concrete too...

Wrong, I've seen concrete in the water all my life and never seen it turn into a reef.
