Rappin' With ReefBum is a LIVE talk show with host Keith Berkelhamer and guests from the reef keeping community. In this episode I chat with Chris Wood from Captiv8 Aquaculture.
Chris is a marine biogeochemist and the Chief Science Officer of Captiv8 Aquaculture. He is also the founder and sole owner of Captiv8. The company’s R&D draws from Chris’ experience and two additional scientists, with a total of four PhDs.
Chris entered the aquatics industry in 2000 as a marine scientist and product development and support specialist, and since that time has worked with aquarists and organizations throughout the world to improve outcomes with aquarium systems and recirculating aquatic ecosystems. Some of the organizations that have used his formulations include the Smithsonian Institute, Disney, NASA, and the Israeli Government, as well as several aquaculture operations in the U.S, including ACI Aquaculture.

I love listening to Chris, he is so knowledgeable and knows his data backwards and forwards. I only use captiv8’s Ca(OH)2 for my kalk needs, such a good product

I've looked at the product line a couple of times and it just seems confusing. Isol8, Integr8, Propag8, Anticip8, Remidi8, Elimin8, Formul8, Carbon8? Should have used a more clear system of naming. Seems gimmicky.

Been dosing MT at 4 drops per 25 gallons.. Seeing STN and RTN. Latest ICP showed sky high 24K ppb iodine level! Lots of zoa in tank.. Really surprised hearing just now MT is the cause! =/ Nickel, molybdenum, Vanadium also way high. Guess I'm stopping MT.

Doing water change now and probably 20% per day.. Anything else to lower iodine levels?

Activated carbon and Brightwell Aquatics Erase-CL will help reduce iodine in case of an emergency.

Rule number 1: Never start with the recommended dosing. Start low and see if your corals are happy. You should have started with 1 drop every other day. This stuff is potent. And it also strips nutrient. Bet you your po4 and no3 are at 0ppm.

Isol8 MT is supposed to be dosed at 1 drop per 25 gallons. Do large water changes then resume dosing, asssuming your tank is loaded with corals. Otherwise frequent water changes will replace your trace elements.
