The only gripe I have with this reel is the weight, but that goes with the size of the reel kzbin.infoUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I brought this salmon fishing up in Oswego, NY. I coupled it with a Cabela's Whuppin Stick. I had no problem pulling in a 14lb salmon. I will probably use this for surf fishing this summer and downgrade to a 3500 series Battle II next salmon season to save my wrists. All of the operations are butter smooth and the bail is nice and thick and has a solid flip to it. Everything about this reel is sturdy and strong. The drag system held up to the salmon and was also super smooth. I did use a scale to set the drag properly before going out to the river and this worked out tremendously. A bunch of other guys on the river would hook up and snap almost immediately. Just because you have a good drag system doesn't do anything if you don't set it correctly.

Yo George I;m movin to St. Petersburg from Baltimore. I always wanted to catch one of dem big ass fish in Florida like you see on the TV but i an't never fished before. In the ghetto all we got is rats and crackheads. When i move i'm a start fishin. My question be where do I start to learn how to do all that shit. I dont know how to put the hook on or what kind of rod i should be using. I need help. They got a book or somthin?

Tampa bay has a lot of fish, so u have a lot of choices. Tarpon, barracuda, reds, spanish macs, etc. But u gotta learn how to catch small fish to learn how to catch big fish. If u just get a cheap medium or medium heavy spin rod and just cast from piers w dead bait and catch flounders, pinfish, and maybe a couple reds. Also there are a lot of head boats, or party boats. They cost about 60 a person for 6 hours where I live, (not in petersburg). Party boats are good because it gives people with out boats the opportunity to fish deep water.

Jive Turkey I'd recommend checking out the Skyway Pier. Out of all the easily accessible piers in Florida, it probably gets the most variety and definitely some of the biggest fish. Last time I was there, I saw a couple of good sized tarpon rolling only ten feet from the pier and I got a limit of snapper and some spanish macks.

Goliath grouper are a federal protected fish ! NOT TO BE TARGETED AT ANY TIME. IN THIS VIDEO IT SHOWS YOU TARGET THIS FISH. Sad to see the Florida Sportsman magazine allowed this to be videoed. The captain that allowed this will be responsible for breaking the law. NO RESPECT FOR THE LAW ~! SAD
@marker_eight4 жыл бұрын
Per FWC Goliath grouper is a protected species. FWC rules stipulate that harvest and posession of Goliath Grouper is prohibited. Goliath Grouper that are caught but immediately returned to the water free, alive and unharmed are not harvested. The taking of photographs after removal of hooks and posing for pictures with Goliath Grouper is not considered an immediately release of the fish. So, you should NOT remove a Goliath Grouper from the water to take pictures. If you want pictures, take them with the fish still in the water.
@DiabetoDan4 жыл бұрын
No law against targeting them for catch and release so long as they aren't removed from the water. Or if there is, I've literally never heard of it being enforced.
