So sorry for your loss. My grandmother had the pleasure of being on “Donahue” as well, along with my aunt and godmother who accompanied her. While I don’t remember the topic, I managed to single her out in the audience while at home with my granddad, even though the three of them didn’t participate in the Q&A. Funny thing is that the camera never did a random closeup shot of them. Therefore, I saw her in the background behind Phil while he was speaking. I got all excited and said to my granddad, “There she is!” while having no idea we were watching the very episode they were on. You can absolutely do the type of comedy In Living Color did back then except it would have to be a different version. No one should want to do ANYTHING they did 25 or 30 years ago the same exact way. Whether you like it or not CHANGE occurs every year on earth. You may not like it or prefer the way it happened back then but it's going to change with or without your approval/support. That said, if they were to do a Men On Film sketch today it would not feature two heterosexual comedic performers mocking feminine gay men. It would also include LGBT creatives offering their comedic take on how they are portrayed. Why folks want us to still live in a 1990s political climate that no exists is baffling to me.
