RIP To my Caribbean elder-always saw ''Benin in'' him. My Mum read his biography before she died in 2020, and it was the last book she read. She liked to say along with my sister, 'He was raised on Cat Island, in Bahamas...' and she said it tenderly.

I always liked Sidney Poitier, he was one of the greatest actors. I've seen so many of his movies I think I like "To Sir, With Love" the best, but "A Patch Of Blue" is also excellent! So sorry for his loss and just one week after the death of Betty White. Thank you for sharing!

God, it seems like just yesterday when I saw this incredible scene in the theater. And ohhh, Sidney! You came to us with such grace and artistry - never considering a role that was not FIT for REAL LIVE Black folk. Like MLK, Malcolm, and so many others...your 'quiet calm on the outside and that fierce strength on the inside' drew us towards our better selves. You could have possibly misunderstood that natural, gentle, open West Indian smile... and underestimated those teeth, at your peril. My dad's side was Jamaican-American. I KNOW this quality well. Thank You ReelBlack, for carrying the journey forward; reminding us to do the same. Rest in Peace Sidney, May we meet at the other side of the Mystery
