isn't it wonderful to his credit born in 1864, and then to not want to stay with his wondering Mom and men she took off with, but be with the Carvers, to get a bachelors1894 degree at 30 yo at Iowa State and then go on for a masters grad in 1896. He had a brother, I wonder which way he went?

So proud to see Mr. George Washington Carver in color. I learned a lot about him growing up in Al, but there wasn't much info in the 80's about him in my 5th grade Alabama history books. I'm glad that I had teachers and a mom that encouraged my couriosity for history and reading. Thanks for sharing Reelback! I love your channel!

The most prominent black scientist of the early 20th century! I don't know how the man's peanut products didn't take off during his era. He also made products out of sweet potatoes and other things which most people do not know. What a genius!

To Tanean Bethay, He did obtain one patent. He did not want to profit from his inventions but wanted to share them with mankind. Read his autobiography the biography written by others leave out the most important things. They have led you astray. He was my hero in junior high. How could he invent 300 uses for the peanut. Later I found out it was 3000. I am a 77 year old white man and he is still my hero.

I am 60 and came to study the footage as I studied the man's accomplishments. Lots more than these gems below. Carver only patented three of his inventions. In his words, “It is not the style of clothes one wears, neither the kind of automobile one drives, nor the amount of money one has in the bank that counts. These mean nothing. It is simply service that measures success.” Peanut products (from Live Science) Carver heard the complaints and retired to his laboratory for a solid week, during which he developed several new products that could be produced from peanuts. When he introduced these products to the public in a series of simple brochures, the market for peanuts skyrocketed. Today, Carver is credited with saving the agricultural economy of the rural South.From his work at Tuskegee, Carver developed approximately 300 products made from peanuts; these included: flour, paste, insulation, paper, wall board, wood stains, soap, shaving cream and skin lotion. He experimented with medicines made from peanuts, which included antiseptics, laxatives and a treatment for goiter. Carver's legacy Carver died on Jan. 5, 1943. At his death, he left his life savings, more than $60,000, to found the George Washington Carver Institute for Agriculture at Tuskegee. In 1943, President Franklin D. Roosevelt dedicated funds to erect a monument at Diamond, Missouri, in his honor. Commemorative postage stamps were issued in 1948 and again in 1998. With so many people like him and Hiram Revel graduated school college and law school to be elected in 1870 to Mississippi congress, I always wondered why anyone would praise criminals and subversive types. smh "led you astray" . There are so many videos on yt from the 1800s interviews even. People were much more honorable back then, Dr. Salk when asked if he would patent his polio vac that worked for one because it wasn't for a cold virus which mutates too fast to get a vac, said "can one patent the sun."

Oh What a blessing! I don’t know how you get these fabulous pictures and stories but thank you. In first or second grade my white teacher gave me a book on George Washington Carver for my birthday. (Back then white teachers had no clue that black children are just like white children except for the color of their skin.) None of the other children got that book because they were white, but that was their loss. Anyway, that book introduced me to this brilliant man. Many years after the book I learned that Henry Ford offered Mr. Carver big bucks to help him with his cars, but he kindly turned the offer down since he loved teaching at Tuskegee. Thanks again.

This is so cool! It's like seeing a history book spring to life! Also interesting to see the marching band. Noticed they had no dancers with pelvic thrusts or gyrating hips. Wonder what they would think about today's half-time shows. Hmmm, Thanks for posting.

@@afrotrooptv my ancestors danced with their entire bodies. They used their pelvis and hips. I have enough soul to not judge dancers by the standards of people who colonized my ancestors. Those same demons go to classes to be able to dance like the very ancestors they persecuted. Thank goodness I am not an idiot who thinks erasing my people's culture is some sort of badge of honor.

Mr. Carver was always one of my favorite heros. He once asked God to show him the secrets of the universe, but God told him that that was too much for him to handle, so God filled him with the knowledge of the peanut. And what he achieved with that knowledge was amazing.

I so loved seeing this! I was so fortunate to happen across the George Washington Carver national monument in Missouri in 2011. Before that, I'd never heard of him. He was such an inspiration and gentle man with such great ethics, I became fascinated and a few months ago here in New Zealand in a thrift store I found a biography about him by Rackham Holt, and am just reading the last chapter. What an amazing book, I've learned so much about Mr Carver, and to see this movie is just amazing 👏 thank you! He is truly a national and world treasure. Can't wait to meet him in heaven someday. 💓

George Washington Carver was a genius. Thank you for sharing and reminding us what an incredible people we come from. This is the part of history many of us don’t even know about because Whites have worked very hard in keeping it from us. 6/5/24, the day before my twin boys graduate from high school, one who is salutatorian of his class and both headed to college accepted into the honors program, one attending an HBCU where their parents met and graduated and the other going to study civil and structural engineering (non-HBCU, had to go were the money was given) I come upon this PRICELESS footage of one of the trailblazers who made it possible for my parents, me and now them to pursue higher learning and displays a portion of the genius inside us. I moved to Alabama from new Jersey n the first thing I did was to visit Tuskegee n the Carver museum there and have done so on many occasions...anyone visiting has to make the trip to Tuskegee....most of the people n this town have never even been to museum..... that is a GODDAMN SHAME!!!!

I wonder where is that afghan that he was working on at the beginning....What an absolute great mind!Well back then an black inventor was not accredited for their creations...they couldn't obtain patents ,it was illegal...This nation and many others are afloat for the genius of our forefathers...and should be esteemed for their great contributions.The modern home is filled with great inventions from our ancestors that have only been polished and buffed up to appeal to the consumers but the original idea is still in tacked....
