I was there that day and whatever you hear about Pearl Jam and other acts that day, there was only one one band that ruled: The Cult. I was getting into dance music at that time, but then I saw the "rock & roll devil" that day threw everything out and never looked back. True story!

Great footage from PinkPop. I saw The Cult in 1992 on The Ceremony tour at an amphitheater in Phoenix. Fabulous concert with Lenny Kravitz as the opener. Having seen them four times dating back to 1987, I can highly recommend them. Great band, one of the best from the 80s.

@@RighteousBrother I think apart from Matt Sorum, he really made the band sound huge on the shows, he had great feel and always seemed very energetic which at the same time made the band more energetic as well. I love John Tempesta but sometimes he plays with the closed hi-hat at moments where he should use the open hi-hat instead as it gives the songs a bigger sound. Michael Lee always played everything needed on the right spot, closed hi-hat where it was needed and viceversa with the open hats. I really recommend checking out the Marquee album because he really shines on it. Best Spiritwalker version imo and that's mainly because of the feel he gave to that song. Also mad props for doing really well with an already established band like The Cult at 21/22 years old.

He's super shy and self conscious in all his early interviews. He mentioned that he had always been insecure about himself. He said it shocked him when he came to America and was being dragged around by some of the most beautiful women. It's like he didn't think he deserved the attention. Such a sweet naive stage for him.

"Everybody say 'motherfucker''"... repeatedly. How profound. For an erudite, intelligent man, Ian went through a lengthy phase of rock 'n' roll oafism from 1987 onwards. Thank God he's left that largely behind him and that he and Billy have produced the best Cult album since "Love" with the recently released "Under the Midnight Sun".

A couple of kids were holding their ears which means it was too loud! That happened to me when I saw SP years ago. It was a great show but it was so loud like an airplane ✈️ landing or something. I had to plug my ears with tissues. I’m guessing but the sound was above 120 decibels for sure. Which is not comfortable. The sound people go too far. They should know better because the human ear can’t take more than 120 dbs without damaging hearing. I would never go to a show now without ear plugs for protection! I don’t like my hearing getting abused and hearing loss. At the very least they should warn people before a show about the sound levels. At the best, they would provide ear protection beforehand but that’s not going to happen. They prefer to pretend that everything is fine and it’s not. They’re damaging peoples hearing and it’s permanent hearing loss afterwards. Not cool and not okay! I’m not blaming the Cult per se but the sound engineers should know better.
