Gene's intensity about everything is familiar. And his deep intense adoration for Gilda is beautiful. And she is so light and funny and sweet and smart and earnest. I don't remember this interviewer at all. He LOVES these two people. Wow.

What's funny is that Gilda was the one who was CRAZY about Gene...she pursued him, and pretty much begged him to marry her. (Her words, from her autobiography)

He loved his second wife more he tells in an interview how mean Gilda was to him, she would yell at him but be nice to everyone else. If you type gene wilder on gilda on KZbin you can find the interview. He loved her just a different way than his second wife, who he called his true love.

It's a shame that Hanky Panky wasn't a big bit. It was an odd creature, somewhat a comedy, but more a tense conspiracy thriller with some silliness sprinkled in. But it was a great movie. For that matter, it's a damn shame that Haunted Honeymoon wasn't a big hit. Seriously one of Wilder's best films, he directed it beautifully, and it's hilarious.

They were so adorable together. It’s sad to hear about how little years they spent before Gilda died, but they were lucky to have been together. “Hanky Panky” was a major flop. That proves to me that Richard Pryor being in “Stir Crazy” was the true reason it was a major hit. Gene tried to do it without Pryor and the results were a disaster. I recently watched the film and i actually liked it. I guess audiences weren’t interested in seeing Gene without Richard. Gene never had a major hit again til the next Pryor team up 7 years later in “See No Evil, Hear No Evil”.
