I lived on the Bloomfield in the mid 70s, and we were still able to hunt them back then. They roosted out on the Hope islands. My dad took Cooktown police out there after a cyclone that washed a sailboat into the islands..he survived 9 days out there eating and drinking the blood of the pigeons til rescued. He would simply grab them out of the trees at night when they settled down.

Yeah I have seen them nesting out there still when we have camped out there. Pretty wild living 9 days from drinking the bloody.

Interesting .The pigeons I've shot are good eating, but you need so many to make a meal.
