FIRST TIME WATCHING Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio

"You did bring me joy. Terrible, terrible joy." I love this movie. My only complaint on an otherwise flawless movie, is the "Lying To Get Yourself Out Of Trouble" bit. It is a terrible lesson to teach children. Disney's "live action" version did the same thing and they were just as wrong. Fun Fact: Feature movie directing debate of Mark Gustafson. Some Records Fact: The longest stop-motion animated film. The First animated Netflix film and the First animated feature film from a streaming platform to win an Academy Award. Author Tribute Fact: Geppetto's (David Bradley) deceased son is revealed to be named Carlo (Alfie Tempest). This is most likely an homage to Carlo "Collodi" Lorenzini, who wrote the original Pinocchio story. Let Me In Fact: Cate Blanchett told Guillermo Del Toro that she wanted a part in this film during work on Nightmare Alley (2021), but the only character that hadn't been cast yet was Spazzatura, the monkey. To Del Toro's surprise, Blanchett wanted to voice the character anyway even though the monkey had little actual lines and spent most of the film making sounds. Lost In Adaptation Fact: The reason the Cricket (Edwan McGregor) is constantly subject to amusing injuries - one of which prominently involving a hammer - is likely a nod to his fate in the original book, where Pinocchio (Gregory Mann) got annoyed by him and smashed him with a hammer, and he spent the rest of the novel as a ghost. Not to mention, Sebastian is basically telling the entire story from beyond the grave.

It’s Christmas. You need to watch the classic American Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life. The movie is part of America’s soul. It is shown innumerable times on television stations in December in the U.S. Do the original black and white version.

As do I. But, as far as modern adaptations go, this is the best
