Reelsteady Go or Hypersmooth 2.0 for FPV? | GoPro Hero 8

I wanted to test if reelsteady looked better than hypersmooth 2.0 on an FPV. The reason I bought a hero 8 in the first place was because I thought Hypersmooth would be able to stabilize it well enough without any external software. It does a good job but reelsteady go is just better. Reelsteady go is only 100 bucks so its not too bad. You get a free watermarked trial if you want to give it a shot before buying. It's still pretty new, but I am loving my Xhover Blastr.

Nice vid man thanks for the info. Was thinking on getting the hero 8 so i could try using real steady. Is the hero 8 worth the upgrade from hero 7 black?

Thanks! You should be able to use your hero 7 with real steady. So I would stick with that and see if you like the results before you grab an 8.

@@RogieFilms I tried with the 7 but just couldn't get it to work properly a lot of shakes. I was reading that the 7 was one of the gopro's that the gyro data doesn't work well with real steady

Can you use hypersmooth2.0 on and still use RSgo or turn off hyper smooth to be able to use in RSgo?

Pretty sure you gotta have hypersmooth off to use RS

Learned a bit since I made this but if you shoot in 4k 4:3 aspect ration on the GoPro you get the best quality. Hyper smooth and reelsteady both use the gopros gyro. When u use hypersmooth it takes away the gyro for reelsteady to analyze. Hope that helps lol

@@RogieFilms thank you! if you record in 4:3 then how dies it know what is on the sides for when it turns to 16x9? or is it just taking the top and bottom out of the 4x3?

@@samuelfrench9665 real steady always crops in a little but when you shoot it in 4:3 it crops it to 16x9

What resolution is this recorded and rendered in? It may be the youtube bitrate that blures it, but it seems to have altered resolution or low bit rate.

Reelsteady definitely just has this look that HyperSmooth can’t match. Were you running the hero 8 hard mounted on your drone or did you use one of those 3D printed soft mounts you have you use for the hero 7 & 5?

It's hard mounted to the drone. I'm finding that using less stabilization points (1 or 2) seems to produce better results.

Rogie Films good to know. I wasn’t having much luck with the hero 7 and ReelSteady go (even with the soft mount). I just picked up the hero 8 and will be testing it out soon.
