6:57 Zuff could be sitting in a church during a wedding that he was literally invited to, and still turn to Rob and Bryce to ask "They're getting married?" 😂😂😂
@NinjaBooKitty
@NinjaBooKitty 4 ай бұрын
I'm starting to think that when Zuff says stuff like this, he's actually processing questions and information beyond what he actually says. Like 'They're getting married?" sounds to me more like, 'WHY are they getting married?' or 'Why are THEY getting married?" 'Like is that the move right now?" I think that because I am the same way. I don't always speak as fast or as clearly as I process information. and because I am alone so much, I don't uually have to explain.

Btw, "Carol" is indeed played by 90s supermodel Claudia Schiffer! And all the airport scenes were of real people filmed at the airport arrivals and asked for their permission to be used in the movie - so heartwarming. Also, there's a 15min "sequel" shot for Red Nose Day in 2017 ("Red Nose Day Actually") which you can find online. Loved your reaction!

The Andrew Lincoln/Kiera Knightley story line may have seemed pointless; however, it was actually was kind of one of my fav storylines because he actually did all he could to hide the way he feels but she was very insistent and when she figured it out he had to come clean. She gave him a kiss at the end of his presentation to let him know that though she doesn't feel the way he feels; she wishes him the best and once that was done, his line to himself "Enough" meant he can move on now.... Regarding Karl and Sarah (Laura Linney from Ozark) I found that the saddest story line because she really loved Karl and her love/obligation for her brother was blocking her. I always wished she realized her brother was being taken care of and she can have a life too. Great reaction you guys!

Fantastic rundown, and agreed on all points. There are so many people that think Mark's a creep. A person feels how they feel, and I think it came to a head in a relatively respectable way, then it was over. Same thoughts as you for Sarah...disappointing but understandable. The real creep was Harry, but you know, we often make some bad decisions when we are in physical and emotional ruts. Not condoned, I just recognize that it can happen and these characters are all portrayed as human. Nice comment.
@valleya6114
@valleya6114 Жыл бұрын
@@guiltyofprolix Agreed, Harry was a creep, but you want to know who I thought was creepier was Jamie's (Colin Furth's brother) and his wife for sleeping with each other. You just don't do that to your sibling! I actually found it astounding how Jamie was able to recover so quickly from that situation lol But, glad he found Aurelia...
@guiltyofprolix

@@valleya6114 Agreed, actually. That storyline was over so quickly (because Jamie had moved on, like you mentioned) that I had forgotten. But yes, quite the dick move by both.

@valleya6114

@@ladylilith06 My guess the writers wanted to confuse the viewer a bit. They almost did go that route... Remember when Mark and Sarah have a moment at the wedding; she asked Mark "Do love him?" I love how they both agreed it was the worst wedding DJ. LOL Finally, Gay or straight...I agree with previous poster Brian Umbaugh; "A person feels the way they feel..."

The Andrew Lincoln part was very important, because the film depicts all different types of love and of course as many, if not all of us know, that love can also be unrequited. So I thought that it was sweetly done.

So, I've heard a theory that Mr. Bean is actually supposed to be some sort of Christmas angel. First he appears randomly behind the jewelry counter and tries to stall Alan Rickman long enough to get him caught or make him change his mind. Then, we see him again at the end where he distracts the airport employee so that Sam can sneak through to say goodbye to joanna. If you notice, he gives Liam Neeson a little significant look as he passes in the airport. Thanks for doing this one! It's by far my favorite Christmas movie! I second the person who said you guys should watch the Keira Knightley version of Pride and Prejudice, and also the Emma Thompson version of Sense and Sensibility.

@maddieknudsen6736

I feel like everyone misses the Claudia Schiffer joke with Liam Neeson. He mentions to his step-son that he'll never find love again because he loved the kid's mother (who died) 'unless Claudia Schiffer suddenly becomes available' or something along those lines - then later in the film after the Christmas play he bumps into the blonde woman, immediately fancies her, and THAT is Claudia Schiffer (playing a character). So in essence - he was true to his word that he wouldn't love anyone again unless it was Claudia Schiffer
@stefsmurf

Unrequited love is a common type of love. He felt he would live a worse life if he never expressed it in any way, so he told her without making it about trying to make a move. I promise to always love you, even if I can’t be the one with you. Maybe you lads haven’t had that before, but it happens and it’s painful and real.
@IndieCindy3
@IndieCindy3 Жыл бұрын
Well said! It seems like so many people try to write off Andrew Lincoln’s character as creepy and that entire storyline as unnecessary, but I really appreciate how the script included this example of love. I agree that the kiss that Kiera’s character gave was one just to acknowledge his sincerity and vulnerability. I’m not one to condone cheating, but the kiss was not romantic (just like the one’s given to Jamie’s character by Aurelia’s sister and father). It was a kiss to acknowledge “hey, I see you and what you’ve been going through.” It was plain to see that it would not be leading to anything more and it was actually a really nice (and unexpected) way for Lincoln’s character to have this closure.

I think you kinda got it when you said about different types of love. But as well as different types, what the Andrew Lincon, Emma Thompson and Laura Linley storylines show is that that love can be deep but can also hurt and doesn't always have a happy ending. Laura Linley chosing the love for her brother over the love of a wonderful handsome man. Andrew that his love is unrequited and Emma that her for love for her husband will forever be slightly tainted even though nothing really happened,

I am so so so f*cking happy that in 20 years since the movie came out, the beauty standard has changed and people are outraged that Natalie was called chubby because of course she is NOT. In 2003 we were just coming out of skinny vodka, cocaine, and cigarettes diet so everybody with a bit of meat on the bones was considered chubby... crazy I know. I love this movie although there are few a bit "problematic" things... I really didn't like that Kiera Knightly was only17 when this movie was made and both guys were in their very late 20s or maybe even 30s. Emma Thompson was was phenomenal in the "crying scene".

He invites the young King of France (Timothy Dalton- film debut) to join his family for Xmas and negotiate a treaty. His sons are there- Richard (screen debut of Anthony Hopkins), Geoffrey and John. Father had sons are constantly battling each other for power and sons are aided by their mother- Eleanor of Aquitaine (Katharine Hepburn in Oscar winning performance). After their last rebellion, he locks his wife up but lets her out for Xmas, they have to re distribute their lands after their eldest son dies. At this time- England owned 1/2 of modern-day France- Henry was Duke of Normandy and Eleanor was Duchess of Aquitaine as well as being King and Queen of England. To complicate matters, Eleanor was also the divorced wife and Queen of the late king of France- the current King's (T Dalton) father. The film also won Oscars for screenplay and score and was nominated for Best Picture and Actor (O'Toole). I'm sure you've heard of the two sons Richard and John- both later become kings- Richard the Lionheart and King John of Robin Hood fame.
