The actor for the Recruiter, named Gong Yoo, is a masterclass actor in Korea. When he did his cameo in season 1, everyone knew it was a wasted opportunity not to see him shine more. I personally love him in Train to Busan and the kdrama Goblin.

7:15 Hats off to Rob for rewatching season 1 before reacting to season 2. That's fan behavior, and that sets him apart from folks who decide to watch for merely clicks and content (not that there's anything wrong with that). There's something to be said about taking the time to enjoy the earlier season again and then being better prepped to appreciate the new season. I just thought that that deserved mention.

Remember that Gi-hun would NOT have just killed the psycho recruiter. He has never killed anyone throughout the entirety of season 1. It's against his nature. And the recruiter lives by the belief that the desperate and poor are nothing but trash - hence his stunt at the park with the homeless. He did that on his own. He couldn't just shoot Gi-hun with the last bullet because it would have gone against his belief that he's better than trash (Gi-hun), who stuck with the rules and did not shoot him, so he boxed himself into the last act of finishing the game.

Now thats how you play Rock Paper Scissors 😂 I actually really liked the Loan Shark Leader. He reeked of being sorta slimy and i expected him to not only take Gi Hun's money but also screw over his right hand man. But not only did he stay true to his word and make his men work for the money they were earning from Gi Hun,but he actually sacrificed his life for his partner. That was definitely a highlight of the season for me. Gong yoo.....give that man an Emmy for a Guest Appearance for this episode. What a performance

The bread and lottery scene can symbolize those who took the lottery will likely join the Squid Game (gambling their life) while those who took the bread wouldn't. So when Gong Yoo (the recruiter) was talking about his dad and ended up killing him, he realized that his dad was 'trash' like other people that he viewed as trash.

I thought it was a great first episode that filled in a lot of the gaps that were needed between seasons. I really enjoyed learning a bit more about the recruiter and is a bit pissed that they killed him off so quickly. Season 2 def feels like part 1 to the final season imo.

Brother… in regards to the missing people as proof doubt…. SOOO many people go missing ALL THE TIME. Like. Hundreds of thousands per year, per country. And remember that the people in the games are people on hard times. People like that are hardly ever looked for unless they have family bugging the police to look or are criminals. Real glad to see all the surviving characters back. Not sure what to think of this episode though. Didn't like the recruiter/Russian roulette storyline, and I think the episode took too long just trying to meet up the 2 main characters.... Would have hoped they spent more time on introducing some new characters. I think they did show us some, but just for a second or two... so... maybe in to episode 2 ! The games will come later I'm sure... first the characters.
