Thanks for the memories. My late hubby and I did the Rees Dart in 1996. Wonderful time.

Did the Matukituki-Cascade-Saddle-Dart- and out to Glemnorchy in 1984 with Rachel, my Tramping Mate and Captain. How did you avoid the sandflies??? Great memories!!

"Shelter Rock Hut" actually old boy. The grind to the saddle takes its toll. I appreciate your top Ten list - weather dependent!

5:15 into it is stunning! I'm going to have to do this hike. I thought it was a 4 day tramp though?
@JonHiclimb6 жыл бұрын
It can be 4 days, 5 with the Cascade Saddle out and back added. We added a 6th as planned another side trip but the bridge was out so we couldn't get over to the Whitbourn. Its certainly a great tramp, one of the best in NZ I'd say, although very busy to.

How much food do we need for this 6 days Hike... Thank you for sharing 🙂
@JonHiclimb3 жыл бұрын
Hi there, so we did 6 days, but you can do it in 4 + 1 if you wish to do the side trip to Cascade Saddle (highly recommended). So 5 days food plus a contingency meal would be sensible.

Just wondering what it’s likely to be like underfoot mid December....would you recommend gaiters?
@JonHiclimb5 жыл бұрын
Alan Breck, hi there. No, I think you’ll be fine without gaiters. Good tracks throughout.

No, the TA goes nearby but not on this trail. The TA generally misses the best/harder bits
