Johnny is one awesome player! I used to see him play with band on lower Broadway in Nashville at Robert's Western World about 20 years ago. The G3 tour in 2003 stopped here at the Ryman, with Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, and Yngwie Malmsteen. Johnny came out at the end of the show (with Neal Schon) and "shredded" with all of them adding his touch of "Nashville" to what he was playing. They all had a good laugh...

Here's what gets me about music. You see how he hits a really great riff and a smile comes over his face (and his bassists)? He did that for himself. He played a tune and joy was fed back. It's like tickling yourself but with tunes.

Best thing about my NAMM show visit years ago was seeing him just sitting, chilling and playing some of the most beautiful guitar I’d heard. I was just getting some strings and going to see my uncle at his booth. Right there at my left just sitting there he was and playing away like it was nothing. Lucky me.

This man is not only ultra talented but his playing comes from his heart and not from his ego, and you can tell. And it makes the whole difference. PS: embarrassing for me to admit, but I discovered this incredible artist only a few weeks ago and I'm 49!! Never too late to find a treasure.

Great playing, Thank you for bringing back the Danny Gatton style and keeping his memory alive. I was lucky enough to see him play live and those are great memories. Those shows were amazing and guitarists were present in high numbers. I believe his nickname was the humbler.l😊 He did this thing were he changed to 4 different styles in 40 seconds or so. Also he liked to speed hIs tempo up and see if the other members were awake. They were and were great musicians and loved playing with him. Would like to see you sing more. Only saw you sing once but the vocals were low and covered up by the instruments. Thanks again 😊

Despite what he was telling his students on one of his videos about how he makes mistakes sometimes when he is playing, I have listened to Johnny live over a period of 2 years(20 years ago in Nashville) for probably several hundred hours at least and I NEVER heard him make a mistake, miss a note, play a wrong chord, mess up in any way whatsoever!! At the level of guitar he was playing then(just like now) this is phenomenal!!

My Grandfather was a blind man. Loved his music. Piano tuner by trade. He could disassemble a piano and refinish it floor up, like nobody's business... He like this guy here played to perfection. Lose once sense and all others kick in...

+Mac I had a lesson with Johnny a few weeks ago, pretty much made me feel like giving up as I do every time I get a lesson off him. It's amazing to hang with him musically and personally. But one of the best things he's taught me is to find my own thing, which is what he has done and why he is so good.
