A couple of questions please, Which brand of scissors that you used? They sound like good fabric cutting scissors. What's the difference between regular sewing and surging of fabrics? God bless you🌷

They are Gingher. And yes they are very, very good. I have had them since the 80s. Regular sewing is just a single straight stitch. Surging is the 3vor 4 thread stitch that you see on the inside if clothing that comes from a garment factory. A serger has a blade and one and sometimes two needle. It sews, cuts excess, and finishes at the same time.

Hi 👋 Would you please advise me what beginner serger to purchase ❓❓ ❣️

I started out with a Bernina Serger 28 years ago. The Bernina lasted until about 6 years ago and the timing was off and I had to have it serviced. Because I was in the middle of a huge project and could wait 2 weeks for the repairs, I purchased a Baby Lock. I still have and use the Bernina. Both are great machines, reliable companies and easy to use. My specific Bernina is no longer available. The Baby Lock was over $1,000. Here is a link (it is an affiliate link, so I make a small commission but it doesn't cost you any more). Bernette Funlock amzn.to/2RTuS6M Here is a link (not affiliate) for the model Baby Lock that I am currently using. You will need to find a retailer near you. babylock.com/machines/105/imagine. I am not sure about serge rs from WalMart but someone else in the comments may be able to help you with that. I hope this helps

I have a basic serge from Walmart. It's 20+ years old. It's basic. Last year, I upgraded to a commercial serge. My new old was more than 1k. If you are just sewing for yourself, a simple basic sure be fine. I sew A Lot, and very heavy fabrics, so I needed the upgrade. My old one would go in every year to be serviced, new one hasn't needed yet.
