The melancholic "Adagio after Hebrew Melodies" for the cellist Robert Hausmann was composed in 1880. It employs two ancient Jewish songs whose extraordinary beauty caused the Protestant Bruch, according to his own words, to be deeply moved. The tenor tone of the cello is the ideal medium to evoke the voice of a Jewish cantor, and so to this day the "Kol Nidrei" provides all cellists with a wonderful model of what is called "singing to the instrument". Max bruch belong to jewish family who were coverted to protestants on 19th century. Exactly like Mendelssohn family and Mahler. Actually they were forced to be protetants. That was the only possiblity to be integrated in the German society.

And the surname bruch,, is typycal jewish name (meaning blessed in hebrew ברוך). And that's the Passion and the inspiration behind this work and others.

@@Cycle-Tourer False. There is no evidence that Bruch had Jewish ancestry.

The musicians today have good technical skills but they have their egos on their minds ..in the 20th Century we had music on our minds

"Right now, there are people all over the world who are just like you. They're either lonely, they're missing somebody, they're depressed, they're hurt, they're scarred from the past, they're having personal issues no one knows about, they have secrets you wouldn't believe. They wish, they dream and they hope. And right now, they are sitting here reading these words, and I'm writing this for you so you don't feel alone anymore. Always remember, don't be depressed about the past, don't worry about the future, and just focus on today. If today's not so great don't worry! Tomorrow's a new chance. If you are reading this, be sure to share this around to make others feel better. I love Jesus. Amen ❤ God bless you 🙏😇 Wish you always success, good health, love life and happiness ❤

@@fransmeersman2334 Nothing wrong with being romantic, dear Frans. In fact it is an honorable trade, all too seldom found in men. I was in agony for a couple of days, because my Mac decided to 'expire' (after a faithful 13 years) and there seemed no hope to find a solution. Thank goodness all fell into place, and now my ability to listen to music again and to keep in touch with the world and good friends is restored, sigh ! Big Hug, Karin

This wonderful recital is as sad as her short life.I read in some you tube comments that the cellist died young. I assume that she was quite determined to make every listener cry through this utterly sad music and great rendition.Gracias for uploading!

She stopped playing at the age of 27 after developing multiple sclerosis....her fingertips were so numb that she couldn’t feel where they were. She progressively declined until she died when she was 42. Even though her career was incredibly short, she is still considered to be one of the greatest cellists ever, and I’d have to agree....when she’s playing, I feel I’m hearing singing, not a stringed instrument. Although there are cellists who play really beautifully, I’ve never had that experience with anyone else. You might like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/kIvHiaJ7h55pn9U

@Argaman1000Ай бұрын
The translation of Kol Nidre at the start of the video is incorrect. It means "all the vows", and the point is that the prayer service about to take place is an annullment of all the vows made over the previous year, but failed to be fulfilled, so that they can now be forgiven, re-vowed, and hopefully fulfilled this time. Nothing to do with "wishes"
