I prayed this prayer during a relationship with a girl. I felt anxiety throughout the relationship and kept playing this song every night. 2 weeks later the girl ended the relationship, leaving me broken and confused. I then ran to drugs, pornography, and success to fill the void. None of it worked and then quarantine hit. And when quarantine hit it helped realize that I was building my life on falling sand, so I finally gave my life to God. Fast forward to now, I can listen to this song and look back on that time when I was praying for God to put me in the fire, GOD IS SO GOOD. I'm praying the same prayer now but this time I'm living for God and wanting Him to use me to impact people for His kingdom.

Hey Liz, I lost my dad a year ago and not a day goes by without me thinking about him. He was such a rock in my life that I had a hard time adjusting to him being gone. All I could do was lean on God. My Dad was a big advocate for Bethel Music. He would play it all day every day. If he was still alive he would have had this song on replay. I listen to Bethel music a lot and it helps me find comfort in the loss of him. But also helps me talk to God and guide my anxieties of him being gone. I am so sorry for your loss. i find it so strange that there is such a sweetness and beauty that comes with this song. Which leads me to think that maybe in the process of purification and pruning, there is sweetness that we may have missed. I suffered from infertility tried for so many years to get pregnant. I always prayed to god to please bless me with a child. I was watching a mother play with her son on tik tok one day I cried and screamed to god "god please give me a child!!!!!" that same day something in me told me to take a pregnancy test... it came back positive! I couldnt believe it I was in tears and in shock!I took more pregnancy tests and they all came back positive! A week after I found out I was pregnant I found a cross necklace a few steps away from where I worked at and I then knew it was really god all along and never left my side. I now have a 11 month healthy beautiful baby boy. He's turning 1 in a few days! God is good!

Every time I listen to this song I realise how scary the words actually are. Like when we say 'take whatever You desire', do we really mean it? 'I want to be tried by fire'- really? Are you sure about that? But I know that if we can sing/pray this genuinely, God can and will do amazing things in and through us. My prayer is that it won't just be a song that's really nice and powerful to sing, but that we would mean it and surrender all to Jesus. Amen.

As beautifully powerful this song, it is incredibly scary to even sing along. A lot of times when people sing along to worship music, they are just going through the motions and singing the songs on auto-repeat. Songs like this, as well as other songs that Maverick City as put out, can’t just be song idly. These songs are powerful prayers and glimpses into the spiritual battlefield that they are fighting and how they fight, by going to the Lord. Such a great song! Truly beautiful

Thank you Maverick city for your beautiful music!! I've just come out of a 3 year cancer journey, diagnosed at the age of 21. I discovered your music in the midst of my journey in the hospital room, I would constantly play it on repeat and let it minister to me, particularly the song 'refiner'. It would fill my spirit with so much faith, joy and peace despite my circumstance. I would like to just thank Jesus for your anointed music which is changing so many lives all over the world!
