AJ is a great instructor and if you sign up at Aviator PPG you will have him as your wingman from start to finish. He was my instructor I have had Zero complaints. He will always ask if you have any comments, questions or concerns and elaborate on any subject in the sport. (Knowledge is power) The One thing I have never forgotten is right before launch, AJ will always tell you to take a deep breath and exhale slowly and that sh*t has always worked for me and not one launch have I ever done without following his simple advise. Not to forget Eric aka "MOM" and his entire crew that made all this possible. AJ tought us all that you need the confidents in our equipment and ourselves and never become complacent. Stay Safe and Have Fun! "Thank You Aviator"

I have an Spyder 3, 24m. I tied-in 2D steering exactly as demonstrated in this video. It's awesome! The hand movements (push-out, pull-in) were much more intuitive that I thought it would be. Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Absolutely perfect timing. I am closing in on 25 hours post-training flight time and 2D steering is next on my list with my Ozone Spyder 3. Thanks!

It’s a game changer for that wing! Do what he recommends though and disconnect from the white pulley first and play around in the air with it. Then try takeoff and land and once it feels good then permanently tie in.

Awesome video. Just a couple quick thoughts: On my Sirocco 3 the tip steering line (and also the main brakes) came set so long from the factory that there was a legitimate prop entanglement hazard. No trailing edge deflection in any configuration with 2” taken out. Full power climb with stock brake line lengths could brush my cage with stock line lengths. Judson alluded to this issue in a recent video. Tip steer lines that are too long like to wrap other lines on launch as well. So maybe, be just as careful lengthening your brake lines as shortening them. Kite in all configurations. Confirm clearance in neutral trim on first flights after adjustments. More food for 2d tinkering: your 2d isn’t permanent. Just as easy to untie a bowline and reconnect your tip steer toggle. In case you can’t figure out what to do with your hands when the Holy Spirit possesses you. 😂

On the Mac Paracharger 2, the tip steering is mounted way lower than the brakes. Where do I mark it?

I fly a Spider 3 and haven’t tied in the 2-D steering but I routinely use my brakes and grab the tip steering with my index fingers. It seems to work great. Question, I did not reroute the tip steering outside of the white pulley, as you recommended in the video. Is there any issues with keeping the tip steering routed through the pulley?

You'll get much more feel and flexibility with it outside the donut!

I just took the tip toggles out of the donut and tried it out in the air. While the tip steering works great that way, I’m getting absolutely no brake action by pushing out to the sides. My arms just aren’t long enough. It’s a Roadster3, and I have found that the brake lines are too long. I could not get a full, slow flare for landing. Instead of shortening them, I bought Gin acro toggles and use those to land, giving me a good 4-6” extra travel. Now I’m wondering if I need to shorten them in order to get the brake action by pushing out. I still get brakes pulling straight down, but that engages tips too. That may or may not be an issue as I don’t know if there’s a condition where you might want to engage just brakes, but regardless, it’s another tool in the bag. Any suggestions?

Yessir, I would recommend you shorten them but make sure they're not so short they're activating when accelerated. Enjoy!

How would this tie in affect landing? I assume I should I try landing with the tip steer toggles and brakes combined before tying in?
@aviator
@aviator Жыл бұрын
It’s very similar, it just allows you to push out for flare

@@aviator ok. The video just said all ozone wings come with it so figured I’d mention it. Also I guess if the spider comes with it and the roadster doesn’t that’s another difference between the two. All Iv ever hear was the fabric is just lighter with the spider.

So my question is why not just fly wingtips and forget about the brakes?

So I fly exclusively on my wingtips.. I just wonder what specific advantages hooking up the brakes would give me.. just the ability to stab out faster? Brakes tend to slow me down.
@jessehart1189
@jessehart1189 2 жыл бұрын
I guess I should be more specific myself. I am questioning about brake use when doing wingovers and rolls compared to just doing maneuvers with wingtips.
@aviator

@@jessehart1189 Ah you need to have the main brakes in case you need to slow down the leading edge :)
