Reflecta Normal 8 Super 8 Cine Film Scanner Switching On and Scanning Films

I loved this Reflecta Film Scanner and made excellent use of it - it's easy to use and the quality is perfectly acceptable. I scanned all my parents and grandparents cine films and all of my friend's parents films. I bought it then sold it when I'd finished - this is real life not paid product endorsement.

Reflecta Normal 8 Super 8 Cine Film Scanner Welcome to my channel, I hope you enjoy watching all the kayak fishing around the UK, mostly in the North Sea - in the sea and river, fishing for cod, bass, tope, dogfish, smoothound, thornback ray, whiting, wrasse and anything else I can target There's scuba diving off the North Norfolk Coast and Suffolk, wreck diving, reef diving, river diving, even Cenote Diving, in the Red Sea off Egypt, the Mediterranean off Malta and Gozo and in Mexico, Brazil, Lanzarote in the Canary Islands, Pembrokeshire in Wales, Swanage and Plymouth and of course the diving with sharks in South Africa. There's kayaking too, including surfing sailing and touring in the UK and abroad and a bit of snorkelling, Plenty of videos too of me fiddling with and driving my classic car, a 1973 Triumph Spitfire and other cars get a look in too. There's cooking, eating, travelling around various cities in Europe - Berlin in Germany, Naples and Rome in Italy, plus the Vatican; Sofia, Varna, Plovdiv and elsewhere in Bulgaria; Lefkosia / Nicosia and much of Cyprus, Krakow in Poland, there's Malta too. Istanbul in Turkey just outside Europe too, and Egypt around Hurghada. Further afield there's a bit of South Africa and Latin America with the Mayan Riviera of Mexico and Rio de Janeiro, Paraty and Isla Grande in Brazil. There's even a bit of Northern Ireland and parts of England mixed in with the nonsense of East Anglia in a camper van with my daughters! Looks good. So good that I've taken the plunge and ordered one to digitize all of my old super 8 archive. Much easier to watch on a computer than having to faff about with screens, projectors, darkened rooms and the like.

I've fairly recently been gifted one of these, but as yet not got it up & running, so thinking I may soon have the time to, have searched for videos on how to do that to find here yours. Thank you for posting such a useful resource!

@@Codbotherer Thanks for your respond my friend. I have a Chinon sound projector but the spike that plays the frames is broken and the film runs freely through the lens and you can't see anything. I can't find a replacement part here in Greece. Too bad because it's the only problem it has.

...and to be honest it probably doesn't matter much as you are looking at tiny bits of film anyway!

@@Codbotherer The resolution of the camera matters a lot, on KZbin you can find a video shot on super 8 that looks almost like a 35mm, they scanned the film using a BLACKMAGIC pocket 6K plus some post processing. The video name: SO REFINED A Super 8mm short film shot on a BEAULIEU 4008 ZMII

I don't think so from memory. I sold it after I'd done all of our footage.

Is this just another rebadged Wolverine?

I'm not sure. The Wolverine may be a rebadged one of these. Or they could be different machines from different companies - but I suspect they come out of the same factory and take the name of whoever.

I think the manufacturer is called Winait; the products are sold under the name Wolverine, Winait, Reflecta, and several other names, including some "own brand" catalogues. The earliest model was 720p, 5" only, no ventilation slots, and a belt-driven takeup (which tended to fail). Later models had variously added vent slots, gear takeup, 1080p, and swing-out arms for bigger reels: check carefully to see what the one you're after has. The Kodak one is 1080p and a different button layout, but otherwise similar (better camera, but as you only get 1080p, I can't see how that helps). There are better machines, but mostly out of production (and/or costing thousands); even those seem to be all intermittent-motion - I haven't seen a true telecine for the small formats. (I think full-size machines can _do_ the small formats, but you're talking house prices there - plus need somewhere huge to put them.)
