I know no one will probably ever see this comment, but here's might unique take on this song: I know this song is like acting as someone who you aren't to others. However, what if you take it as an emotion you are acting to others. I know all of us, in the deepest part of our hearts are good people, so if we hold on to emotions like anger, hatred, and violence it won't show our true self. It kinda makes sense with this song too, and even a little more serious, since once someones sees you at angry, they'll stereotype you and they'll never be able to see the true you.

It doesn't matter, those people are set to attack us, so who cares if they never see our true selves? Anger is a method of defense, very much needed for us who need to protect ourselves from the nefarious intentions of others and their attacks. When I wasn't angry, I was still being attacked. Only when I became angry I became heard, some people hear nothing but our anger because they'll laugh at our tears and they'll poke fun at us and our good parts and make a mockery of us. Some people only listen to anger, it's been my experience at home as well, when I spoke quietly and with softness, no one ever heard me, but when I could create storms, people suddenly listened. Some very few people listen to our softness tho, and those are the people I cherish the most - those who sit with me through my tears, who appreciate my baking, who listen to me without me having to be angry and don't attack me on purpose to make me defensive and then blame me. If I have to yell at you and be angry for you to listen, it's a bad sign, a sing that I was pushed too far, and anyone pushed too far will be angry because why would you do that to someone??? Why provoke them on purpose so you can have a reaction? That shows me you have bad intentions and you don't deserve trust or respect from me, you're a provoker, a cheap tricks with bad intentions who likes to make people angry on purpose and hurt them so you can tell them they're bad. You won't get my soft side because the only thing you know how to summon is hatred and anger by your own hatred and anger towards people. You only listen to anger, so that's how people talk, because when someone speaks to you with softness, you make a joke out of it. Softness is for those who understand the language of softness, those who cradle it, not those who sow hatred and anger to provoke people into reacting as they want, or those who meet us without empathy and make fun of our struggles. Softness is for those with empathy. I think this song is about people who are so set on making us who we're not, that they absolutely must push us to the edge to prove we're that, because no one would act like that or be so provocative if their intentions weren't bad. No one provokes another on purpose if their intentions aren't bad. People with nefarious intentions are provokers, and I don't trust them one bit, their language is hatred and anger because that's what they sow. Those get met with defensiveness, whether you understand or not, some people don't understand the language of softness, they only listen to the storms. And others understand tenderness and softness at times, but will get influenced by those who only speak anger. This song is about being careful and that despite people's nefarious intentions, we will show the world who we are and reflect a mirror back at them of how they treat us. Anger for provokers is only a mirror to who they are and how they treat people. A reflection is not only of us but of how people treat us, what language they speak and understand. I don't waste my time proving myself to people, those who understand the tenderness of a soft touch know what softness is, those who only understand and sow anger with provocations done on purpose will try to undermine everything and I have no time for those people who undermine even the people who understand softness.

@@WinterLynne94 They're both great, tho I think they're different interpretations of the same idea of the image others see of us. To me they're wildly different and I prefer this one just because it conveys more the perspective I feel than Lea Salonga's. Different ideas imo, but Lea has an insane voice, I always got frustrated when trying to sing On My Own yeaaaars ago.
