Tice's question was fair, the fact that the interviewer couldn't answer revealed that it was 'no', thereby reflecting the shameful anti-Reform attack agenda (shameful because it was based more on cartoons than arguments) that the paper adopted to bolster the Tories during the riots. However, Tice would be well-advised to be less touchy. Having said that Lee Anderson was clumsy, Tice should just have said that Sadiq Khan's policies are consistent with a sympathy for the Islamist ideology held by the Islamists whom he defended as an Islamist-defending lawyer.

I'm sure they would when given the chance. Why wouldn't they? Anderson has been the deputy chairman of the Government. As far as I';m aware, the Greens have never been near the levers of power.

In fairness, I'd say he has got a point. All the more established parties have also had their recent scandals with candidates spouting extremist views. Though that's not really an excuse, and he still needs to address the criticism properly.

I think it's unfair, ignorant, and perhaps even bigoted to suggest that Sadiq Khan is in league with Islamists. Though I do think it's reasonable to say that he is weak against them. He does seem to have spent his whole career sharing platforms with them, defending them in court, downplaying their threats, and instead condemning those who raise concerns about them.

The woke left’s alliance with Islam (and Islam’s alliance with the woke left) is temporary, strategic and transactional. It can’t work on any multi-decade time-scale. As has often been noted, Turks living in Germany vote left in Germany, but purely for the gibs; lefties are more likely to give them benefits and let their relatives come and join them in Germany. But in Turkey, these same people vote overwhelmingly for Erdogan, because he shares their values, not the German lefties. I don’t know if you know the words “pronomian” and “antinomian”. They have a legalistic meaning, but are also used more broadly to refer to political tendencies. The right in a society is pronomian: they like old-established traditions, norms and hierarchies. The left is antinomian: they want to displace those old-established traditions, norms and hierarchies, and replace them with new, woke hierarchies. Globally, Islam is the most pronomian force on the planet. But, when introduced into a non-Muslim society, it can function entropically, as an antinomian crowbar. This is why the left likes it. They see it as useful for undermining the established western culture they dislike. But what happens when the undermining is basically done? The left think that, at that point, they’ll be able to just pozz the Muslims like they pozzed everyone else. Personally, I doubt that.
