The Rise of Proactive Police Stings & How to Stop Them - Kathleen Hambrick, Houston, 2021

This training workshop was presented by Kathleen Hambrick at the NARSOL 2021 National Conference in Houston, Texas. Have you heard about proactive stings but want to get the facts? Or are you a victim, or know someone who is, and want to help advocate against the practice? Kathleen Hambrick guides us through the process, from entrapment to registry. She discusses why and how it happens, and why law enforcement and the news media are invested in keeping the public in the dark. She concludes by explaining how to turn the tables on these kinds of stings, and what needs to happen to make them stop.
Persons not ensnared in these stings are mostly unaware of the tactics used by law enforcement and the challenges faced by those they target. Many people find it hard to believe the accused, thinking our government wouldn't possibly employ such unethical tactics on purpose. In this session, Kathleen also addresses federal funding per arrests and prosecutions and shows how our government profits from these stings.

At least in some cases the money goes into the general funds of the law enforcement agency's funds since the federal government rewards them for convictions. However, the intent was for individuals who were engaged in illegal trafficking of kids and adults, not creating stings for people who are not engaged in illegal and extremely harmful human trafficking.

I want her to tell Chris Hansen to have a seat on camera and ask him why he feels no emotions about anything to include shamming men in proactive stings. In my opinion Chris Hansen is a factor one psychopath. "Psychopaths can use their knowledge of emotions to manipulate people. With little or no concern for others." (Quotes from the internet.) Throughout human history psychopaths have been really good turning people against each other.

There’s a mayor in Maine who was given some private info on someone the registry and his family and is now on tiktok harassing and bullying his family (registered offender) his offense was 15 years ago! Isn’t this illegal?

What the mayor is doing might not be illegal, but it is wrong. It would depend on Maine's restriction laws, if the offender falls in a tier that keeps his name off a public facing registry, and how the mayor discovered the information whether it is illegal.

@@NARSOL he discovered the name on the list because someone else has been doxxing harassing threatening and insulting the family of the “offender” she (doxxer)did a background check on someone she doesn’t like on SM, found out who her hubby is and his charges and then she went online spreading all info and assumptions on the “offender “ and family and then privately shared all her findings so the mayor can make and post public videos shaming and harassing to keep blasting her on SM if she(offenders wife) sends him another email or Cease and Desist letters! She has asked him to stop talking about her and her family thru emails (to his “public” email with the city) it has gotten really bad online and am researching where it becomes unlawful/illegal to be able to press charges just to get them to shut up??! Unfortunately, we do not have a partner organization in Maine. It does sound as though the mayor is abusing his or her power. That could be something to ask an attorney about.

Use AI to interact with all suspected non-kids and the AI can occupy their time and waste it. Every where they access there is the AI. What do you think? ... on another note we live in a time where police will strangle kids and adults on camera and do so as status quo. Until the police engage in convincing radical self correction of themselves and or their peers ... these sad situations in these stings are just part of a huge problem. Hold them firm. Legally - strategically. ... and one one more note we have people that say they are the wrong age all the time. I am only 42 (im 50) and that guy who identifies as 6 "Age Fluid" . Guilty here? We must use communication, body (image), and age declaration in tandem. If ones girlfriend says she is a certain age in play, is one guilty? Do we ever really know? I mean some people do not age past 8. It is rare but it is there. Are the pursuers guilty there?

The question of who is responsible in the situation is a difficult one to analyze legally. However, once a person they are underage, any activity needs to cease. We focus on police actions related to the registry so cannot comment otherwise.

It's sad cause most dating is done online, and you never know if your being lured into some police trap. These young adults are being lured in and imprisoned for many years then wear a tag for the rest of their lives before they can even start a life. It's all a money making industry. Ask to see the evidence, it wont happen.. We need to educate our kids.. also Anime can be concidered child stuff..

Let's leave some money on the floor and then arrest and life-long demonise those who pick it up, or offer people some cannabis, and anyone who takes it or has a puff gets arrested and their human rights stripped from them. @@davenaylor6384 Stings are good, if the person is aware that they are talking to a child and they still try to attempt to meet them up or sexually assault them, then they should obviously be held punishable, and do their time. However after a certain amount of years they should be able to get off the registry and live their lives if under good behavior. Having people on the registry for life is punishing those who are trying to atone and do good, everyone deserves a second chance. And the registry is punishing teenagers, adults and young adults unfairly, someone can lie online about their age and boom it’s over. How is a non violent act like that fair? How is it fair that females can lie about their age online and in real life without repercussions? How is it fair that someone that takes a piss somewhere in an alley or bush is suddenly in the registry for life? How is it fair that teens who have consensual sex end up in the registry for life? How is it fair if someone sends you CP and you want to be a good Samaritan and go to the police only to be imprisoned or falsely accused ? The registry is doing the opposite of what it’s supposed to do. It needs to change and be more lenient towards those who face minor felonies and those who have been falsely accused, are teenagers themselves, or have been lied to by females.
