Hello Tsehaye Negash. Greetings from The Backbench Engineering Community. Briefly answering your query here. We know that refractivity is height dependent and different mathematical models exist that approximately represent the refractivity profile. For average atmosphere , accepted standard value for vertical gradient is give as deltaN = 39 per km. The standard radio atmosphere is based on linear model given as N = Ns + DeltaN ( H - Hs ). But it is seen that further other models also exist for the same. In further models, the relation between dry Height and surface temperature was expressed as Hd = 40.082 + 0.14898 ts.
