What a fabulous lines of Auden. No one need dictionary or other explanatory guide to get the meaning of the Poem. MY heart touching line from this poem is "Thousands of doors and windows are in the house but nothing of ours". When I was reading this particular line, It recalls my higher Secondary school friend Stephen who belonged to a Srilankan Tamil family was settled in Tamilnadu during war between Tamil Eezham Revolters and Srilankan Govt.
