Great idea on the separating of the pinstripe head! Thanks for all the info.

Thanks for the very informative video! Fyi, REMO Pinstripe is two plies of 7mil which is thicker than 3mil Ambassador or 5mil Emperor snare heads. Just in case you notice you are not getting the correct snare wire response or sounding choked.

I had a Japanese drum kit from star drums when I was a kid it was faded blue sparkle.I resent looked up Japan drum kits from the late 60s and saw my drum kit in a catalog with other drum heads from king stone .I wish I had it but got thrown out

Great video! Those throw off mechanisms are usually broken with a screw in there. I do have one that's fully intact, which is a bit of a miracle.

Thanks Alan. Glad you like the video even though it's kind of long :-) Yes, the release throw offs were always having issues and having bought so many MIJ kits over the years I had to figure out something to make those work when they were broken. Like you, I have bunch of mint ones but being able to fix up a variable is at least an option.

I recently found a Winston blue sparkle, I had to use an allen key for the throw.

Thanks for the awesome video. You gotta love it when there’s spray paint on the hardware. 😀

Great idea. The question is what happens to these old MIJ kit's from here. Hopefully they don't get hacked up and they get preserved for generations to come. Nice work. I subscribed.

Unfortunately, we can only hope these kits continue on in good hands. I've been refurbishing MIJ kits and others for decades and it's always a crap shoot on how these kits will be treated by the new owners. All I know is I love giving them new life to inspire a new bunch of drummers. Some MIJ kits do end up in my drum hoarder's den. :-) .

You’r absolutely right bro. And unfortunately we cannot control what people decide to do. But that’s what makes this country so great . A free country.. can’t blame em I guess. Even though they may regret it down the road. Lol 😂
