He should do what makes him happy and I understand not wanting to be type casted or possibly fetishized for his beauty by association for playing a romantic role like that. Hopefully they will recast him with someone who appreciates the job for it's highlights though, and the representation of interacial romance or whatever it is people feel like they'll miss out on. I know this is probably mainly an issue for American's(?) but it's been said many times that black boys and men feel undermined and underrepresented in acting roles in that they rarely if ever see themselves as the romantic hero without tragedy. But if that's disingenuous for Rege then yeah stay away from roles like that

Seems to me he didn't like working on the series much, which is totally fair. Simon is a polarizing character, I didn't particularly love him and Regé didn't either. What's the point in continuing to play him if you don't feel a strong connection with him? I respect his point of view, a lot of people would've stayed on since Bridgerton is one of the most famous series in the world right now. Instead he moved on to other projects like the DnD movie, in which he was great.
