Rega Apollo r + Elex r + Totem Mite

A fine example of a great HiFi system that doesn't have to cost a fortune! Rega showed it again. The demo was held at a HiFi-show in Leeuwarden, Holland, 10-10-2015. System playing in the video consists of: Rega Elex-r integrated amplifier, Rega Apollo-r CD-player and the small Totem Mites speakers.

Anyway thank you for the video and your suggestion at the pink fish media - it was useful for me to choose the Elex-R when I decided to change my old Naim XS....

I tasted my Rega Elex-R with a Rega Apollo-R and a Rega DAC (like there at a HiFi-show) but with Kudos C2 speakers - and the sound wasn't very impressive, but as soon as I connected my Elex to a Naim CD5X - it became a real miracle! Apollo-R is good enough in a Brio-R set, but for an Elex-R I'd recommend some high-leage CD-player...

+Nikolay Zakharov I must confess I was also a bit surprised that Joenit (the Dutch distributor for Rega & Totem) choose the Apollo-r as a source into the Elex-r. Also, I think it would've been better not to stack some units, but place the whole system on a decent rack, like a Quadraspire. (I think it would compliment the system both sonically and visually) Nevertheless, I was very impressed during the demo.

I use Onix oa 31l design by Tony Brady with totem mite and sinergy is so crazy Perfect combination, so much musicality

Seems like a great combo Vladimir. I love the little mighty Mite. Too bad Totem no longer make them. I'm kinda curious how it would sound with a Rega IO.

Decent sound. Musical. Sensible money. Have you tried any of the Stereopony oeuvre on this setup?

The treble is very harsh

The treble sounded perfect to me. I find it hard to make any speaker sound harsh with Rega amps, as they have quite a smooth treble.

Did the Osiris and Isis get a ear in. I can see them in the rack.

They did, but it's been over 5 years ago, that I listend to these Rega/Totem systems. Therefor I don't recall what they sounded like to me. I can only remember how impressed I was with the Elex/Totem Mite combo.

What speaker cables were used here ?

I'm not sure, but I think it was Totem's own speaker cable.
