This is one of the best filipino fantasy movie of all time, it's up there for me with "Ang Panday", "Captain Barbel" and "Darna"... It's not by all means perfect, in fact it has lots of flaws but the story telling, the dialogue and lore are so captivating, I hope somebody would make a remake of this movie with perfect casting, updated visuals, cinematography, music and score with improve dialogue... heck, it will be a classic for a new generation....

This movie is one of my childhood favorites that I never get tired watching over and over again. They were able to execute 2 things very effectively. One is the sense of fear and danger in the world of the lamang lupa. In the beginning alone we see the snakecharmer got her throat slashed. Side characters get killed, we see human sacrifices, monsters and demons. The "Batas ng Dapo" makes sense in that it gives the boys a fighting chance to survive in their world. Two, the costumes and character design. They used a lot of local natural materials that dictated the fantasy native design. I also noticed that Tatay Puga has a hood that also serves to obscure Dolphy's face when his stunt double takes over. Reyna Kamkam also has a mask in the final battle for her stunt double and also to visually tell that her body has been taken over by Bangorngor.

Yung Mall Scene parang Stranger Things,No Need I-Remake ang ganda n ng 80's vibe nito,4k Scan na lang sana/digitally restored,this movie can stand out kahit hindi iRemake,Nostalgia feeling,parang E.T.The Goonies,Hook,MadMax..Si Dolphy parang si Robin Williams,ganda ng casting.Napaka'Ahead of it's time.Kung may gusto sila baguhin pwede nila update SFX parang yung ginawa ni George Lucas s Original Star Wars,idadaan n lang yung film negative s computer scan.Imagine 1987 p itong movie n ito,ganda ng Story,ewan ko kung bakit 5.7 lang score s IMDB,kung ako magScore nito 9/10 certified Fresh!😊

Remembering the good old days when this was newly advertised during the 80's. It made me curious too if we can go head to head already with foreign movies and it really did made me anticipate to watch it. But way back then we are still too far to complete with foreign film. Also, not sure if this was one of the entry for Manila Film Festival if ever the MFF existed that year because I was 10 yrs old when this was released. Gloria Romero acting is outstanding and her costume design is well done, the mask on her face makes her a bad-ass. The iconic fight scene of this two legend Dolphy and Gloria is an epic. Now that we have the modern computer and technologies to upgrade special effects.Rewrite and edit few corny scene because it really deserve a remake. Kudos to all the cast, the staff, and the crew doing this movies.

The visual effects/opticals, the practical effects, prosthetic makeup, wardrobe, sound and story-line are ALL advanced for its time. Kung gagawan man ito ng remake ay tiyak na mas aangat sa graphic& visual technology ngayon. Sana nga lang ay maging faithful sila sa original plot and theme kahit na medyo may konting updates na sa mga locations, props and settings.
