This is so weird, I literally just searched for a video by ye on cotton a few minutes before I got the notification for this. I'm an environmental science student from Ireland & I love your channel & podcasts.

South Alabama, conventional cotton on winter cover (had to disk due to kudzu) will have to cultivate this year unfortunately. I hope to implement the SAP analysis. God bless

Two different studies have been done on glyphosate stability constants. One from a pure study of chemistry. That was done at A&M and indicated Iron as the most reactive, followed by copper and then manganese and zinc. Cobalt was not investigated to my knowledge. This was done by Frank Dean from Spring, TX, product developed for Lido-Chem. The other study which I did involved examination of whole plant corn silage mineral content data. Using the Dairy One database, I selected several years of data from the time period before GT corn seed was available in the marketplace. I compared that to over 1000 samples of corn silage tested at Dairy One in November of 2010, when this comparison was made. The reduction in the mean content of Iron, copper, Manganese and Zinc tracked with the study done by Dean. The most interesting outcome was the % change seen in the standard deviation of these same minerals. That data revealed the same rank order as the mean and at a great significance level. Reductions exceeded 38% in the cases of Iron and Copper.

The fact is high levels of nitrate reduce the ability of the mitochondria to produce ATP. The excessive nitrate-N binds with calcium which is often limited during early growth. This reaction prevents transport of P with Calcium (which is in short supply) which is necessary to produce ATP. Plants at this point also become attractive to sucking insects.

Do you guess recommend an ortho phosphate soil applied? I’ve been told the are effective at lower rates. Also, my soils are high in calcium. What are things that would limit calcium’s uptake in cotton?

I am not aware that there is a tech grade version that is water soluble.

Will this management practice work with organic cotton? And also will it work on a dryland cotton farm?
