I bought this gun in stainless steel and sent it to B&H spring solution to have it upgraded with all Browning FN parts including the Browning barrel & custom grips. I can say that this Turkish made gun is every bit as good as my FN built High Power. Even nicer that it's built from stainless steel. Now I am looking to get the Girsan MP 35 OP.

I have had a Hi-Power since 1974. It is my favorite autoloading range gun. After a lot of study, and watching this video, I bought a Tisas this last Saturday so I can semi retire my Hi Power and still enjoy shooting the "same" gun. As to hammer bite...YES! It bites. Years ago I bought a Browning spur hammer and replaced the round hammer and that took care of the problem. I kept the original. I will probably do the same for this gun. Browning spur hammers cost $35 to $45 and cure the problem. All of my study and talking to several gunsmiths indicate the parts are 100% interchangeable (except sights). I also have a Colt M1911 made in 1918 and it likes to bite also. With that gun I just wear a thin leather glove (works for the Browning also) I could change the hammer on that gun, but it was passed down from my father and I really have never shot it enough to be worth changing the hammer (I have a couple of newer 1911 handguns that do not have that problem)

Update to my comment below...I have now had one of these for nearly a year and shoot it often. It has been 100% reliable and is very accurate. It is, in every way, just as fun to shoot as my original, circa 1974, Browning. I have the "blued" model, which is actually cerrakote, but the finish is beautiful and durable. After a couple thousand rounds it still looks brand new. I have not made any changes to it as of yet, but I may replace the round hammer (to prevent bite) and upgrade the grips when I find something I like. The Hogue grips you have on yours look great! I also use it for CC occasionally. It is not my EDC. Just a little too heavy and big for that, IMO. Tisas did a great job with these, they are absolutely top notch.

Love the Hi-Power's; but they will pull a man's britches down with suspenders. I had one of the Portugal made units and it would shoot like you always wished a 1911 would. Great fun at the range. But not for CCW with the weight and hanging mag, disconnect design. But in Browning's day; genius. I never shot another pistol so well or wanted NOT to carry it for defense so much. My catch 22 gun.

The HP was made in Belgium, though some were assembled in Portugal-they were the same FN manufacturing in Belgium. Of course I am referring to Browning HP and FN HP, and not the war models made by Inglis in Canada or the Nazi occupiers produced HP in Belgium and Slovakia during WW2, nor the Argentine or Hungarian made clones which shoot pretty well but are not parts-interchangeable with original FN HP/BHP models. This is very similar to the design features of the “C” & “T” models of the FN which predate the popular Mk II & later Mk III - most notably the original style safety. Most prefer the extended or extended ambi safety which the BT9 can accept as well. For self defense it is best to not remove the mag safety (legal reasons); for competition removing the mag disconnect will allow great improvement in trigger smoothness and performance! Overall, the BR9 is a great option for a shooting hi-power! There will be sight options available soon. Long live the high power - the granddaddy of all double-stack Semi-auto pistols! 😎
@keithkyle23715 жыл бұрын
The Browning Hi-Power by Inglis is my CCW. I carry a round in chamber, never use the Safety catch. I drop the hammer to half-cock and carry as I have for 60 years. As I draw I automatically let the web of my hand bring the weapon to full cock. I do believe I will try the Tisas Regent BR9 for everyday range shooting, keep my Inglis as is forever.

And they instantly tie a gun manufacturer to the dirty deeds done by the past government of that country. Since when does any government directly make any firearms? If there are any, it's news to me. A gun made by Mossberg, Remington, Browning, or Colt isn't a gun made by the American govt...they are private firearms manufacturing companies that happen to be American. Such goofball logic in so many comments.

The same people who hypocritically probably own a German HK or Sig, Italian Beretta, or some kind of Combloc weaponry. I will not enter the political argument, except to say Tisas is a private company and is not responsible for Turkish government decisions any more than Ruger is responsible for US government decisions. That said...as another commenter mentioned, A BROWNING will always be worth what you paid for it and usually INCREASE in value. This gun will probably NOT do that. So, from a collector standpoint, the Browning is worth the price. Now, for the practical...I own a Browning, but maybe I will buy one of these as a surrogate to save the original from unnecessary wear and tear and still allow me to enjoy shooting the DESIGN of the gun...which is a GREAT range gun. I will also consider FEG and FM (Argentina) who also made clones of the Browning. Most are available in the $500 price range (or lower). As a practical CC gun, there are much better choices, lighter, cheaper and much less expensive than the Browning, but the Browning is a glorious handgun and super comfortable to shoot. I can't imagine being without one. They are also a good addition to a CC rotation for formal occasions. Hard to think of a more respectable handgun for weddings, funerals and such occasions where I am required to wear socks and other formal wear.

In 1978 a friends Green Beret older brother was home on leave and took us out shooting with his Browning Hi-Power. He told me “When you turn 21, this is the handgun you want to buy”. I took that statement to heart (who wouldn’t coming from a Green Beret?) A week before I turned 21 I walked into a small general store that was around back then, opened up their big, thick catalog and pointed to the combat model with a matte finish and said “This is the one I want”. I paid $220 for it... On my 21st birthday I went back and picked up my new pride and joy, my first Center fire pistol.. that was in 1985. In 1993 my House was broken in to and the communist bastards stole ALL my firearms including my pride and joy. I knew who did it but couldn’t prove anything so I had to sit back and wait for revenge, two years later someone else beat me to it as he was stealing things out of a Jeep. The Jeep owner hit him across the back of the head with a baseball bat and he laid in a coma for a week before he met his maker. I’m not big on thief’s and feel he received his just rewards for all the people he had stolen from. But Analhooter, I digress... My best friend had purchased a much fancier model Hi-Power (blued with stainless steel barrel and adjustable sights) after shooting mine but then wanted a Walther instead so, I convinced him to sell me his. The first time I ever shot it was a week later in my Concealed Weapons Permit class. I was in the last lane and could hear the instructor as he came down the line talking to each student “Nice, Good, Well done etc ... he got to me with the black completely shot out of the target and said “Oooo, Impressive”. I have always remembered that moment, it’s not often a civilian impresses a Marine pistol Champion. I still have my $250 replacement Hi-Power and it still looks as good as it did in 1993 because I take great care of all my firearms. I have been offered $1,250 for it and turned it down because “Sorry... It’s not for sale”. Great video, I just had to tell my “Tale of woe” when I heard your Hi-Power had been stolen too.

The Canadian military used the Browning High Power for decades since before WWII and it is still in service to a certain extent. The Tisas is sold in Canada under the “Canuck” brand. I have the blued version, along with an FN High Power. When I shoot the Tisas I get the hammer bite, but when I shoot my FN High Power I don’t. But the FN doesn’t have the rounded hammer and the Tisas dies. / I am definitely going to get the new FN High Power when they get to Canada.

Decades (since) before WWII? It came out in 1935? Canada? You mean Europe, can you buy a real gun in ‘canada’

pros: great tool right out of the box fit and finish is very good functions reliably with a variety of ammo parts / magazines are below average difficulty to find all parts (minus the sights) are interchangeable with Browning / FN parts incredible aftermarket / upgrade market for parts better metallurgy than the originals cons: good luck concealing it under anything but a jacket standard grips aren't bad, but everyone replaces them, myself included. many beautiful and functional grip options are available if you're buying one used- check the barrel. some have reported visibly off-center barrels. grip screws like to back out under recoil you will not find mags out in the wild very often. online is not bad. Tisas uses oversized pins, but standard sized holes 🤔 good luck finding different sights other notes: The hammer bite issue I think is over-repeated to the point of being canon (not in this video specifically, but in the larger discussion). In order to experience it you'd have to get the web of your thumb over the beavertail, which makes holding any kind of grip on this gun very difficult. The ergonomics of the gun largely prevent this from happening as it guides your hand out of the bite zone. Upgrades: Honestly, it doesn't really need them, but the Tisas stands to benefit from any upgrade made to it. If you wanted to spend the money, you could probably turn this into a decent competition gun. That being said, you can easily spend the MSRP of the gun on a trigger and springs and be nowhere near competition standard. It's a vehicle for your interpretation. A vehicle that runs on money. The magazine disconnect is a matter of taste. Personally I find the magazine retention handy. A full mag slides out like you'd expect, but a nearly empty one will not. Handy. It's not a tactical gun with a rail. It predates this notion. However, if you want, they make a slip-on kydex frame that replaces the grips and adds a rail, without any gunsmithing. Crimson Trace also makes laser grips that (naturally) approach the MSRP of the gun itself. It's fun. It's accurate. It's reliable. I got mine because I wanted a Hi Power. Anyone calling it garbage because it's from Turkey doesn't know their stuff. Super fun range gun Fun open carry Fudd Lite I Can't Believe It's Not Browning!

I have 2 Original Brownings. Well let me REPHRASE that. I gave the one made in 1980 to My GUNNY as a Present August 2013.. Got to FIRE this One a couple of days later. I kept the one made in 1976 for Sentimental reasons. I bought both for $400.00 each at a Pawn Shop in the Late 1980's I never Fired the one from 1976, which has Factory Gold inlay.

Like the takedown. 1911's are a pain to disassemble. This look a lot easier.

Hope they make a double action version of this. Would love to buy it and the Price Is Right on the stainless model. But I would never purchase a single action only gun, in case I decided to use it for carry . for the range it would be fine...

Magazine disconnects can get people killed in a self defense situation. If my mag pops out, i still want to use the one in the chamber. I woud buy one of these but not if it has the mag disconnect.

12gageshot you can get it removed by a gun Smith it’s not a d😆big prob👌🏽
@12gageshot6 жыл бұрын
@@rifles_up2263 im pretty sure you can. But that is still altering the firearm, and i would not want to use it as a carry firearm due to liability. However it would only be a fun range gun. I have removed the mag disconnect on the Walther P22, but i dont use that to carry, just plinking.

Easy to remove and it improves the trigger pull.
