Hmmm & that's why the young lady on the right is recording the players live into a computer. Higher fidelity, cleaner captures. Easier to drop in. No need to splice, cut & join 2" tape. No mechanical break down from Otari, Ampex, Studer & Revox 2" machines. No need to buy 2" tape then mix down to Quarter inch tape. Unlimited tracks to record on & bounce to. Much faster than rewinding spools. You have to SEE the benefits of todays available technology despite the fact that today's producers DON'T use the live musicians or call them in to record, which they should to keep the traditional vibe alive. Digital BOBBY was last great one who kept it real as a producer & he left a legacy of great digital recordings. Humans PROGRAM computers. Computers DON'T work by themselves. We DON'T sneer at technology, we use it
@530d5 Жыл бұрын
@@JackRubyish yes today music is easy to make ,easier, cheaper,but no quality .That s why,Bob and his songs live 50years,and Sly and Robbie,Lee Perry etc. Channel One,Studio One...in digital music u dont have that kind of artist and songs to live long.But yes u have cheap ragga dancehall...
@JackRubyish Жыл бұрын
@@530d5 Dont know bout easier to make cos Its still the same process but you're NOT laying to tape, you're playing into a computer through an expensive soundcard. GOOD technology costs ALOT of money, so it ISN'T cheaper, not by a long shot. It's still 3/4 minutes of continuous steady playing. You really can't compare Nesta & Sly & Robbie with this era. No contest. As for Dancehall today, its lost its identity but you can ONLY blame the youths for that & NOT sticking to the format that's been handed down to them. Steely & Clevie was holding up Reggae when they ventured in Computerised machines as it was then but there was no actual computers ( Atari, Applemac) & software being used in 83/84/85. It was all Digital Drum machines but the creativity was STILL there. Incorporating live Gits, Horns players & Keyboards players. Sly & Robbie made tunes like Revolution - Sir Dennis Brown & Herbman Hustling - Produced by Sugar Minott featured SOME digital drum sounds which was released in 1984. Listen to, Trouble Yu Deh Trouble me - Ini Kamozi, Oh What A Feeling - King Gregory Isaacs & you'll hear Sly/Lowell playing Digital Toms from a Drum machine called TR808 in it. I don't listen to this new style of Dancehall as that's LOST its identity. And I can go on & on for example Murder She Wrote using Toots Hibbert lyrics produced in 1992 by Taxi/ Sly (who played a Drum machine for the whole drum pattern) & Robbie (I'm not sure if Robbie played on this hit) was a worldwide Digital hit. There is a famous guitarist named Lloyd "GITSY" Willis who played the leading melody in that hit. That melody that Lloyd Willis played live carries the whole tune. It's the way they did it. Genius magical inventions/creations. Jamaica has lost that.

Id travel back in time to gather some of those vibes.. They dont exist really anymore.. everything is toxic and woke trash.. Even the vibes from the 90’s reggae scene in San Diego.. I just didnt appreciate seeing the greats enough.. I would go back and appreciate them much more.. Oh those days of Gregory Isaacs and Eek(before the “transformation”) and all the others.. Wonderful experiences..
