Quick is an actual MUSICIAN and COMPOSER. Dre has an army of Musicians and Composers, takes their work, mixes it, and outs his name on it. They are NOT the same. Dre paperwork and business position is bigger than Quick. But if you put em both in a room with a Keyboard only, somebody ass gone be out.

Yeah. Big fan of Sugafree, Hi-C and some of 2nd II None's music, but Quik never found that franchise player/flagship artist like Dr. Dre has done repeatedly. Quik's from Compton, and moreso tapped in than Dre is. Why didn't somebody like Kendrick Lamar gravitate towards Quik instead of Dre? Same with The Game, another Compton artist? Easy answer: Quik has no track record of taking a raw talent to the next level.

Dj quik is somewhat lowkey, and doesnt care about limelight, but is now known nationally. He gradually eased into the mainstream in the late 90s, and even by early 2000 he still wasnt a big name all over the u.s. Its only until more big mainstream artist aknowledged him, and he started working with more big names did the nation start to really connect with him. In cali dj quik was always looked at as almost or close to dre. Had he been more mainstream and associated with more big mainstream artist, people would eventually said he a top mainstream producer. Its the same thing with battlecat. Battlecat is low key and though he has worked with mainstream artist , hes not really connected to the mainstream as having artist under him or big name saying his name. Thats the said part of a large portion of mainstream fans, you need to either have connection with bit mainstream artist or constantly be known in the mainstream to get recognition. Im glad my selection of music is not limited to just mainstream, because there are a lot of producers out there that are just as good if not better than mainstream artist. What sad also is a lot of mainstream artist usually aknowledge other mainstream producers over the ones who never went mainstream. Quick was mostly known in cali and midwest in the 90s, though i few knew him in the south and eastcoast. In mainstream everything is about who you are connected either from the past and present, or if youre making a trendy sound for the most part.

Oh and California Love, a song with Pac, Roger Troutman, and Dre on the track. That beat was dissapointing for that collab. Should of let Roger produce it. He would of faded Dre's little sample. Even Rogers remix was tighter than Dre's original track for California Love. Roger had to lace it with that west coast sound.

Bottom lime: all these producers have some "help." Quik's a legend, no doubt. However, it seems like Dr. Dre, in hip hop, is the only one who gets criticism for bringing in co-producers, studio session musicians. As long as everyone's officially credited correctly, I have no problem with producers using "help." End of the day, it's all about how the final product sounds.

Quik never gave him production credit for all the s7^%^ he did for that album. Plus Courtney and Tracy who helped produce Quik Is The Name album. Quik didnt really give them credit either. Yet Quik claims he's a one man band. Quik loves to steal credit from all his musicians. Whereas Battlecat and Prodeje used Rob Bacon on a number of their productions. Yet they all gave Rob Bacon production and musicians credits. Quik only gave Rob Bacon bass and guitar credit. Quik isnt s7^^ without Rob Bacon and his musicians. Quik uses the same musicians. Dre used everyone on keys from LA Dre to Camara Kambon. Everyone on bass from Stanley Jones to Mike Elizondo. His s*&& is still better than that bs that Quik has been doing in the pass 20 years.

@@juicehead777 ok, what hits? Name 'em. If you've watched this channel for some time, Reggie's discussed problems at Death Row as far as money and production credits not always being done correctly. Guys like Daz likely did get shorted for credits early on, but you need to be specific. The only obvious one I know of is "Ain't No Fun" off of Doggystyle. Daz did the "skeleton" for that beat (the demo's on KZbin btw), but Dr. Dre "dressed" that beat up, fully PRODUCED and MIXED it, and made it a classic. Btw, are we sure that Dre received all of his proper credits at Death Row? I say that, because beats by guys like Daz and Soopafly dropped off sonically once Dre left the label. Death Row collapsed less than a year after Dre left for a reason, because he was the architect of the label's "sound." These are facts. Not revisionist history.

The dopest thing Dr. Dre ever produced to me was D.O.C.’s album, which I still blast to this day. I enjoy Quik’s catalogue a whole lot more than I do Dre’s. I would have given Dre credit for Above the Law’s debut, which is a classic, but it was long revealed that he never produced anything on it, but I believe his name was listed as a producer for the purpose of securing their record deal. And I don’t care about his music being mixed with a super clean sound. I’ve always preferred Quik, Madlib, Dilla, Pete Rock, Premo, Diamond D, Buckwild, etc. over Dr. Dre. 🤷🏾‍♂️

Reggie Wright, you are absolutely right about money and there are many scriptures in the Bible that deal with the issues of money from the positive and negative perspective. The problem is that Satan has caused so much controversy, conflict and confusion over the authenticity of the Bible that a lot of people just won't/don't read it, therefore, being bamboozled from the truth. Hopefully, people will read God's Word for themselves and not be mislead by what someone tells them. From one Born Again Christian to another, God's Will Be Done! ✌🏾❤️

It's simple, DJ QUIK never produced a Eazy-E, NWA, D.O.C. Michel'le, Snoop Dogg & Eminem. No disrespect to DJ QUIK artists, but none of them guys could catch your attention. Plus all DJ QUIK's artists rapped on all the same type of beats. I'm sure y'all know DJ QUIK was on Ruthless Records after Dr. Dre left, right? He didn't produce no hits...none, he did whole albums on Ruthless Records. DJ QUIK had the same amount of time to find & produce artists, but he failed to make stars. That's why Dr.Dre is where he's at, bc of the artists I named at the beginning of this message. Name 1 artist other than Sugar Free that DJ QUIK made a superstar?
@MichaelBrown-ti1un
@MichaelBrown-ti1un Жыл бұрын
Even then, Sugafree is just regional. You're correct tho. Quik has no track record as a producer of taking a new, raw talent and molding them into a superstar. Quik's a tier below Dre, and that's part of the reason.

Quik is my favorite Hip-Hop producer, but it's hard to put him above Dr. Dre, simply for the fact that, no disrespect to the artists he worked with, but he gave a lot of his greatest beats to guys who weren't exactly stars... Outside of Suga Free, most of the rest of em were his homies, not stars. Quik also had the talent & ability to explore other kinds of music like R&B, Jazz, Rock & Pop. Most of, which is debatable, Dre's dopest beats were samples. Quik shit was original, but he never really diverted away from that gotdamn Moog & he basically re-used the same drum patterns. 🤷🏾‍♂️ So, Quik, IMO, should be revered in the same sentence as Dre, as far as being a pioneer for Westcoast Hip-Hop, but he didn't produce certified stars like Dr. Dre did. One thing for sure is he's a better artist & performer than Dr... That's for sure.

@@s.salazar6364 Agreed, but for my own taste, his production was still top notch as far as sonics, but not much of it was outstanding as that era. That's just me tho. The Tale Of Two White Men: What Jimmy's is to Suge Knight is what Lyor Cohen was to Dame Dash. JIMMY took Dre along with him to start over without Suge but part of the plan was to eventually eliminate Suge from the Music industry all together. Lyor Cohen told JayZ fawk Dame, I'm gonna make u President of Def Jam, fold Rocafella and watch it die slow, so long Dame Dash...blackballed forever lol!. DRE makes money but he doesn't have the power of control. JAY z doesn't control anything except have some extent of executive privilege to blackball his own folks on show participation and that kind of b.s! The power that comes from actual ownership & distribution is different than power that relies on relationships alone. Dre & Jayz are vulnerable to the Kanye Treatment any day. DEATH row gone...Rocafella gone....ruff riders gone....Beats bought out....here's cash bye bye ownerships...50 cent vitamin water...here's cash...bye bye! When you don't own...sitting on a lot of cash doesn't threaten the why it man.

No sirrrrrr! Dre just wasn’t with the bullshit. You let Dre do his music without the bullshit and you’ll get successful projects like Doggystyle, chronic and the list goes on and on. Suge was supposed to push the records and stay the fuk out the way. But naw, he wanted to be a gangster and that was his downfall. Jimmy knew Dre was talented. Jimmy knew all he had to do was find Dre and let him do his music. That’s why Dre is who he is and everybody is who they is.
