It's probably the best Northern Irish band, perhaps with the "William King Memorial" coming in second. In particular it's their bearing as a "regimental band", their uniforms, haircut, marching style etc. which make them stand out. It's quite an achievement to maintain that high standard over the years.

@@brianboruvll4704 Perhaps I wouldn't be quite so strict. You are right, if we're talking about an existing regiment, then I would find it inappropriate too to form a band in their name. But the "Ulster Volunteer Force" does not exist any more since 1914(!) when it was transformed into the "36th (Ulster) Division" and to my knowledge it never had a band of their own. And "paramilitary" band? No, as this band is named after the original UVF and not its paramilitary namesake of more recent years. BTW: "stolen valour" is a term used in the US - not in Britain.

Grow up... The dogs in the street know who and what that flute is.... And by the why They wear Scots guards drummers tunics.... And if I'm not mistaken the Scots guards are an active regiment ... It's shameful and embarrassing...also the know your regimental history .. with disbandments and amalgamations over the years the current Royal Irish Regiment carry the history and honours of the past Irish regiments.... That is because republicans don't have flute bands like this one or the William King, the Moneyslane, the Black Skull (Glasgow), the Omagh Protestant Boys or the Imperial Corps of Drums.The republican own standard in flute bands is quite embarrassing.

It is a Volunteer for the Ulster community. My great uncle George Brown was a Volunteer for the 36th Ulster Volunteer Force in 1914 for the British n Northern Ireland in WW1. PROUD TO BE A PROD 💪🤝🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊🍊

No stolen valour nor paramilitary band here. Hundreds of bands across Northern Ireland contain members that are ex-servicemen!! I must also point out that we remember with great pride and dignity our fore father’s that fought and died for all of us

But the fact is military uniform for the military personnel.... When you leave the military you've no right to wear a military uniform.... Oh items you have a right to wear are any medal or awards granted and your old units headdress... Check Kings Regs and the law.... You're typical of the drum beating chest beating so called loyalist.....

​@@silveraliplain well explain this friend... When I was over at the ulster tower a few years ago with my church for a visit... The band and bagpipe band of the royal irish were there.. During a rehearsal I was watching them... In the distance that uvf band started playing and walking towards the tower... The RIR band stopped rehearseing and were told by their boss.. Lads get out of sight round the back... We can't be seen or pictured around paramilitary displays... Let them finish and the. We'll continue..... Explain that

These marching bands are self funding, and self taught. What great musicians they are. They provide a great sense of comradery and discipline within local communities and a fantastic way of involving people of all ages. It is also a proven fact the marching bands of Northern Ireland contribute millions to the economy each year. LWF FGAU SPM
