This song is about not living up to your full potential.The genius next door was just that; a genius.The neighbors and the kids laughed at him he spent his time 'wiping clean the ketchup bottle labels' and getting drunk and high.The depression got to him and soon enough he went to the lake to drown himself.The thoughts still consume him evidence from"Hold in your breath till you thought it through you foolish child"Its a sad tale about not living up to what you could be by listening to others.

First time I heard it I thought of suicide too. Drowning to be paticular "hold in your breath, til you thought in though you foolish child" Is what does it for me. Very sad song.
