This song is siginificant for both Regine and PolyEast. Eto yung kauna-unahang song ni Regine na nirelease, this was in 1986 when she won a recording contract with OctoArts International (the precursor of PolyEast).. sa plaka neto yung 45rpm na maliit, ang pangalan pa nya was "Chona Velasquez", Regine wasn't used until Martin Nievera suggested it to make her name more "marketable". Jamie Rivera also had a version of this song, which appears as Track 2 of her debut album "Hey It's Me" in 1987.

Lani Misalucha too have a cover for this song. Regine was derived from her real name Regina Encarnacion Velasquez. Chona was her nickname and the name she was using eversince even in singing contests she joined in from her name Encarnacion.
