This amazing performance was from her 2006 concert called Twenty which marked the 20th year of her singing career. And fortunately, I was there to witness her majestic interpretation of this classic Sammy Davis Jr. song. And believe me, everyone in the audience was mesmerized from her Disney-ish prelude up to her skyrocketing finale. So it was no surprise that she got no less than a standing ovation. Irrefutably, this was one of her best live performances that can only be executed masterfully by the one and only Asia's Songbird! ❤️

Just want to share some facts about Regine. Her father was her voice coach. While on training, he would let Regine go inside a drum filled with water and Regine would stand in it with her whole body up until her neck submerged in the drum then would start trainng and vocalizing!

It was introduced by Anthony Newley in the musical Stop The World - I Want To Get Off. It comes at the end of Act Two to close the show. Bricusse and Newley received the 1961 Ivor Novello award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically, At the 1963 Grammy Awards, it won the award for Song of the Year and was the first Britons to do so. The great Sammy Davis Jr. also has a version of this song as well as the world's greatest tenors (Carreras, Pavarotti and the other tenor I forgot his name).

Thank you Coach for another amazing reaction to Queen Regine Velasquez. FACT: This was a Two-Night Concert for her 20th Anniversary in Showbiz. The Title of the show was "Twenty" which happened on October 13-14, 2006. She was 36 years old. This was the 2nd night where she had no speaking voice all throughout the show. Vocally, this wasn't her best but still better than most singers out there.☺ PS: This was her version of What Kind of Fool Am I from the 1st Night kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqC5lXmDppuners This was better because her voice was in good condition.

This wasn't her final song. This performance was on the middle part of the show. Her last songs were "Asia Pacific Singing Contest Piece Medley", "Till I Met You with Robin Padilla" and "Greatest Love of All/I Believe." This was the 2nd night. She had no speaking voice throughout the concert because of the previous show which happened on October 13, 2006. This was on October 14. I know because I was here on the 2nd night.

Thank u so much for this reaction,, a genuine REACTION .. Really enjoyed your honest assessment of it. She is the foundation of our younger singers to date. Put the country in the map sort to speak. I remember this was the 2nd night of her concert and wasnt fully 100% well. She was rushed to the hospital after of dehydration and fatigue. She was groomed by her parents musically starting at an early age. But her Dad was the biggest influence to her musical training of the dynamics, techniques and vocal control aspect. Her Dad used to let herself submerged in water, started from waist or belly during the earlier days and eventually going deeper up until like the neck on the latter part of her training while singing a song, She started singing at 6 yrs old, joined contests but wasnt really fortunate to win, At 14, from Southern Leyte, her whole family moved to Bulacan, ouside the capital , Manila. She had competed in a very tough nationwide televised singing competion, Ang Bagong Kampeon ( "The New Champion" ), which she defended her reign for record weeks.The all they say, the rest is history... By the way, it is pronounced REE-jeen VEH-las-KEZ! The Asian Phoenix -a great influencer of Morisette and other pop Filipina singers. She was even invited to audition for Miss Saigon in London but refuse cuz she preferred pop... Thank you for reacting. The song was arranged by Louis Ocampo the pianist... or so I heard somewhere.
