Just a little step by step on how to make my Blu Ray player region free - if your Blu Ray player is like mine or it has a similar settings screen try this method as it seems to work on most Blu Ray players that have LOCK in its settings - enjoy.

Tried this on my LG and it didn't work. Still got the wrong region screen :(. Have you tried this disc in any other players? That disc may just be region free. The back cover says it's region B, but smaller labels (or even big studios sometimes) typically just mark everything B, cause they're lazy. I ask because this method isn't making a ton of sense to me. There's only 3 regions on BD, so the options typically wouldn't be US, DE. SE. GB, AU exc... It'd just be A, B or C. Also, even if it used country codes you should be able to use SE, for example, on any region B disc. These LG players seem to have NTSC to PAL conversion in them for some reason, so it wouldn't surprise me if there was some way to unlock other regions, but going through the normal UI seems too straightforward.

Tip: skip to 1:30 and just play through 3:00. Basically, he says "my Blu Ray player is already region-free, so I just go into the player's set-up menu, and enter a new 2-letter code for a different country." He doesn't say where to find a list of those country codes, and his menu had no drop-down menu for them. Bottom-line: check your disc player's Setup for a region or country setting that you can change.

Bluray and DVD have entirely different region systems. Bluray regions are A, B and C. DVD regions are 1 through 8. What you described in the video is for the Bluray region setting, which seems to be an official LG function. How do you change the DVD region setting or make it DVD region free?

Hey bro! That was a nice, simple explanation, thanks! Sure didn't know the LG players were so dang simple : ) I have an older OPPO BDP-83. There USED to be a hardware mod, a cable that you would simply plug into the circuit board. Don't have that and I don't think they make them anymore (too old) BUT, it sure would be nice if there was some kind of software / remote hack that would do that! Thanks man!

My LG blu-ray player has a similar menu - I went on setup - lock - changed the area code to UK, but the Region-B blu-ray of The Red Shoes doesn't play, or even get recognized as a north american blu-ray.

This video was posted 5 years ago so there is a slight chance it worked then but now, at least for my BP540 it does not work. In fact I highly doubt it ever did. In the manual for Area Code it says: "Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 63." This has nothing to do with region so it is doubtful it actually worked.

This code has nothing to do with making the player "region free". Area code is related to the disc content rating. Read the supplied manual once in a while, children. It says: "Area Code Enter the code of the area whose standards were used to rate the DVD video disc, based on the list on page 55."

Thanks for watching - I would still like an actual region free player as putting in the different codes everytime get's annoying and for some reason only works about half the time now - which sucks but this video was done a long while ago and things change - so i am now on the hunt for an ACTUAL REGION FREE player - cheers.

@@vacationwild94 The Blu-ray Disc region codes are as follows: Region A: North America, South America, U.S. Territories, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia. Region B: Europe, Africa, Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Region C: Asia (except for Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other areas of Southeast Asia) So i think if your player can accept the codes as in the video then enter any country within b region and it will work such as for example UK or GB code, good luck !

i think your info are out of date cuz i just tryed to change my blu-ray LG DB620C just as you said and i could not play the blu-ray i live in Canada Region 1/A and the blu-ray was Region2/B. when i tried to play the Blu-Ray i had the screen that said this Blu-ray will play only in Region B

Chances are there (99%) that you can only switch between regions a fast amount of times, after that (let's say 15 times) it stay's locked on the last region you did enter! This is a well known problem, wich doesn't matter if you have 2 bd players, then you can set one on region A and the other on B. Also: never update firmware if you change the region!

Too bad it doesnt work on the oposite way. I have an european model and setting it as US doesnt do a thing. The only that works is the 0000 acess code but then the region setting is useless. No matter what we set it to it does not work on an european model of this player if you want to play american blurays.

Had you tried that disc before you changed the country of your player? Many bluray discs are region free despite the packaging says otherwise.

@@SoapNugget I believe the point bobskie321 was trying to make is the covers aren't always accurate. They are sometimes (like with your Transformers The Movie BD), but they're not foolproof and they're often inaccurate.

Got the Panasonic bdt700 blu ray player here in Denmark 2 days ago,and now im looking into making it region free,so any hints/links is very welcome. I found a shop online that does it,but they charge about 60-80 £ to send you a disc,and im sure its just a simple hack that would take 5 min to if you know how. So not too keen on spending that kind of money if its not really necessary.

TJ Pyramid just found out that most Panasonic players are region free from the factory,so its just to contact Panasonic on how to do it on the remote. So wrote Panasonic DK to find out if this UK Panasonic site is right ? > The region enhancement process is not related to firmware. On some players you are limited to the number of times you can do this then it locks onto the current country code and there you are stuck!! i.e. if I reside in New Zealand and have changed the codes the predetermined number of times and I have entered a code for say N America then the player will lock onto this country code and there it stays. What fix is available when this happens?

+TJ Pyramid Dont Worry. this procedure is in Manual that comes with the device and nothing is told about limited times you can change the region. So its sound to supose that is limited. Althouth is true that on device for Computer you are limited to a number of times, often 8 times.

This did not work for me. I did not try blue ray disc, just a dvd from New Zealand. Changing the country code did nothing for me from the set up menu. It still says wrong region. I picked AU as code because New Zealand code is the same as Australia. This is for LG BD670

hi - I try with my bluray Soken. I have the same screen up to area code - I change from thailand to france (I got bluray with region B) bu t when I introduce my bluray B, it doesn't work - then I introduced a new bluray ( ABC) bought in Bangkok, and even It was still on France in the code area, but it works as normal - its means that what ever the country we choose, the player work only with zone C (or of course if no zone) - thanks

Yes, same experience here, at least with a DVD. You can change the code to whatever you like but it makes no difference to what disc it will play.

seems like it would be better just to buy a region free dvd player and not bother with the blue ray players. Most are dual voltage and provide conversion to pal or ntsc automatically plus upverting. I did a search on ebay and they start at $30. and good ones are about $80 brand new. unless you want to take a chance on supersonic.

It actually worked for my Asian Blu-Ray under "US" on my lg BD-590 in the disc's "menu", until I clicked "Play". Hasn't worked since, just goes from recognizing Blu-Ray to stopping & going back to the menu, even under the "HK" code. Frustrating, & even more so that there isn't some kind of hack of lg site firmware update that can at least make this player work the way it should-but since this model was "DC'ed" 2-3 years ago, no one should hold their breath.

I have LG BD550. Everything is the same, the menu, 'lock' menu item, region etc. But this technique doesn't work at all. Not sure why LG wants to put it in there when it doesn't work. My player is Region C & I could not play my Region A Blu-Ray Disc (Speed - 20th anniversary edition) on it. Some say a firmware is availabel which can probably unlock the player. but I ma not sure how that's done.

according to all manuals and info, this is ONLY for rating locks. It does not change the region... are you sure he does not have a region free player?

I am in the UK and have recently got an LGBP135 blu ray player. I used the method on your video and it will now play UK and US dvds but I got a US blu ray disc (a movie I love not available on uk blu ray) and it won't play even though the US dvds will. Any suggestions?

Blu Ray players are not hackable that I know of, DVD players are.. good luck with that. SOme you can hack the DVD side, but the blu ray sides are not hackable. You have to buy them region free like on Ebay.

Not true, it will not except any passcode, it will say error.so what do I do now? And you forgot to mention when you change the region a certain number of times, the DVD player will be permanently locked & then you won"t be able to change it again.

It's NOT totally multi-region free automatically. It look like that you have to change for each region you want to watch. It's a pain in the ass to go through everyone one of region, instead of having it to be automatically region free

Hi there in eed help every time I have to format the hard drive I have to install a blu-ray/dvd player program on my computer I get this CyberLink 3D BD Solution disc that comes iwth a LG BLU-Ray burner. I isntall it then a fucking screen demands me to set up the rregion to A,B,C a white screen shows up with a world map for A will be in Orange B will be green C Purple. so when ever I install windows and play a new different blu-ray with a new copy prot3ection this screen comes up. what bugs the fuck out of me that there is a warning saying I got "CHANGES REAMINING with a Number. my says 5 last week I had 7" once the number goes 0 (ZERO) its dead I have to send my bluray drive to the repair or buy a new one I want a program that I can downlooad free that can set this up with out doing any changes to the drive can you help please

I don't think i can be of much help with all that as my blu ray player does not need any special downloads or software to be region free - some players are just easier to get to be region free then others - i would suggest to buy a region free blu ray player, not sure how much they are but it has to be less trouble then what you go through - sorry i could not be more help. :)

Basically this setting doesnt have any effect. I had the same experience only the opposite way. i'm in the UK and set my LG to region 'US' but it still wont play a US DVD. (and it still plays region 2 DVD's even when set to US)
