Regional Express Airlines | Mt Isa - Cairns | Gulf Route, Australia's most EPIC airline route Part 2
Welcome to the continuation of my milk run with Regional Express Airlines (REX). This time, I get on board the Gulf Route from Mt Isa to Cairns. REX continues to be consistent service wise with excellent and warm FA fussing over us the entire way.
While the view out of the window isn't as dramatic as Part 1, it isn't any less scenic. We depart the Australian mainland for a wee bit and land in Mornington Island - my first time leaving Aussie shores on over 2 years (no thanks to Covid).

Thanks ! By coincidence I recently read the novel "A Town Like Alice " as well as the 1950s film of the same name .I am in the middle of watching the 1980 mini series ; set and filmed in Malaysia and Outback Queensland. The heroine of the novel is taking a similar journey to yours in the outback and coastal Queensland ! Lol .

Thanks for taking one for the team Ryan 👍 I like milk (Regional) flights in Australia but I would want to get off and explore the terminal / tin shed at every stop, even if for 10 minutes or so. I remember when Ansett had a Melbourne - Cairns flight once with nine stops in a B727 😃

Wow... a 727! Now THAT would be a treat! Yeah unfortunately with Covid, we weren't allowed to get off especially at airports with easy access to vulnerable communities. A previous video with Rory Ding on a similar run saw him get off at EVERY airport, imagine my jealousy!

I really enjoyed watching your trip report onboard SAAB 340. I am a flight attendant for Air Chathams in New Zealand. We are a small and family owned airline based in Auckland and we also fly to numerous smaller airports around the country and connect family and communities. We also fly to the Chatham Islands (where the airline got its name from) in the South pacific/southern ocean and also we fly to Norfolk island which is part of Australia and It is the only international route that we service out from Auckland. 😊 Hope someday you will come and fly with Air Chathams in New Zealand and if I am lucky, i will welcome you aboard. 😊

Funny you should mention. I just got back from NZ last week and did a few flights between North and South islands. I did observe several smaller airlines and one of them was... Air Chathams! I'll definitely take note of this for my next soirée! Thanks for watching... !

@@ryansofly Intriguing, that's good to know. Air Chathams also operates SAAB 340 and ATR72-500. We operate out mostly from Auckland Domestic terminal because that's where we are based except for Norfolk Island (Australia) flight which operates out from the infamous Auckland international hahaha. I recently watched your LATAM flight trip report that got delayed and eventually cancelled. I am really sorry that you had to endure and experienced the goose chase run at the terrible Auckland international terminal. So appalling. Many local New Zealanders are not happy with how Auckland airport is handled.

Yeah well I only stay at hotels which are partnered with QANTAS, and Ibis was the only one in Isa. and yes, it is very old. It looked and smelled very old too. Hahahaha...

YAS! I just watched your first vid of the milkrun and now watching this as it's released. It's almost like bingeing. Ohhh, you didn't get a private jet on this sector. haha I am going to ask you one question, please tell me your disinfected the tray table before you poured your soy crisps onto it? Nah... I've rolled around in shit through the jungles of Brunei, Lumut, etc... Lol! I'm hoping they disinfected the table being the first flight? 🥺 Yeah the scenery on this flight isn't as dramatic as last flight, but it was still nice. Green wild tundra.
