The Registan Square Samarkand, Uzbekistan, is undoubtedly one of the most important and iconic monuments of the region and all of Central Asian Islamic Architecture. The Registan Square Uzbekistan is made up of three madrassas, each of which has an iconic timeworn facade and intricately decorated interior - the University of Ulug Beg, the University of Sher Dor and the University of Tillya Kori. The square also contains the Ulugh Beg Observatory, which was built in the 15th century under the rule of Ulugh Beg, a renowned astronomer, mathematician, and Islamic scholar. The Ulugh Beg Observatory is another one of the most important and historic monuments of Samarkand, and the Registan Square Samarkand is a great place to see it. Registan Square Samarkand is especially beautiful at night when the Ulugh Beg Observatory and three madrassas of the square create a spectacular sight.
