Personally, I am uncomfortable using my residential address as the registered address of the corporation, since it is public information. However I found that you can pay for a "Registered Address Service", which gives you a separate address to use for the registration. They will accept any mail on your behalf and forward it to you. This seems like a good idea if you are starting out and don't have/need an actual office space. In Ontario I found this is offered by a place called Business Development Centre. If anyone has used a service like this in Ontario, I would be interested to hear your thoughts. Thanks

When starting small you would like to keep your operating cost low so I suggest speak to Banks(There are only handful in Canada) and see what they have for small businesses and pick what favors you now. Once business pick up you might considering checking other avenues. Personally I have a basic business account with RBC where I pay a nominal $5 fee per month. I will keep sharing my experience from time to time. All the best for your business. Your business number is typically in the first email you receive after registering a corporation. It is also supposed to be mailed to your address but in my experience with Canada Post you cannot rely on that. Best thing is to go to the Canada Corporation website and enter your corporation number. That will get you the business number - www.ic.gc.ca/app/scr/cc/CorporationsCanada/fdrlCrpSrch.html? Do not waste your time calling Revenue Canada. Their agents are largely useless and will send you in circles. They will not help you to get your business number despite the fact their website says they can.

That email should contain your business number, which is the same one used by Revenue Canada for your GST/HST account. It can take a couple of days for the databases to sync so try the link I provided above on monday.

Hello! Thank You so much for your detailed video. It helped a lot, and i really mean it which otherwise would have costed a fortune. Please publish a video of what other steps are required after the initial incorporation, that would help many. As an information to you and to fellow aspirants, i registered my federal setup in Sep2021 with services offered for now in SK and i noticed a few things 1) The forms are now a lot simpler, meaning a few steps of the process isn't there anymore. 2) Atleast in SK, it did not ask for an extra provincial registration as part of setup, and from what i understood the registration specific to a province is done seperate and one can add more provinces in future depending on their situation and growing needs. Hope this helps.
