I really like this type of video: it isn't a full tutorial but the viewer can figure things on his own and you presents the idea behind the render rather than not just step by step instructions. More Blender youtubers should do same.

Really makes my day to hear that. You're right, once you learn the techinical skills its time to hear the ideas and thoughts that go into renders
@HannesDollinger3 жыл бұрын
@@Regoliste That's very true. I like your style of videos. Nothing worse than a tutorial that's waaaay to slow. But you could just add quick fullscreen screengrabs of your settings to your videos like e.g. your node trees. We can then easily pause and compare to what we have done.
@hazchickgames28403 жыл бұрын
I second this notion really. There are lots of KZbinrs who teach the technical skills or one-off techniques for certain models which is perfectly fine, but not too many that show how those get applied to tie a scene of your own imagination together like this. Apart from yourself, another guy called PassiveStar does something similar.

@Ambient Exploring Hey, you can animate the water by changing the z location of the mapping connected to the musgrave texture, basically we're moving a 3d texture through a cross section plane that then gives off a water a movement, if you want more info definitely checkout Ian's tutorial which you can find in my description

God knows in how many videos i made that following comment : 3:07 - In bump node, you use the DISTANCE value to control the bump, Not the strength, Search "blender bump node strength or distance" and "Understanding the bump node" You are getting the wrong results, it looks ok because it applies uniformly so the eye doesn't catch it but this isn't a good practice (Not the way it was meant to be used). Quote from another video : "You are actually supposed to use distance value. strength does a strange fade with the bump but distance properly effects the bump. using the wrong one can cause shading issues." (And if Ian also used bump node the way you did, then Ian is ALSO wrong).
