Every kid should know and see where the meat they eat comes from. Living in the city we had friends on a farm and I was about 10 yo when I first saw 3 sheep’s necks cut then about a week later ate some , some kids unfortunately think it comes if plastic and are so protected from real life it’s like they live in a bubble unfortunately, so great to see you bringing your kids up the way kids should be, looks like really nice meat, I have never tried camel, I love kangaroo. Love the videos too,

I've had Roo three times. The first was a Roo burger (basically a steak sandwitch using a bun) and it was GREAT. The other two were restaurant meals and very disappointing. They were both VERY gamey, had that wild deer taste to them. So I'm not so sure about Roo. Also the restaurants over charge on the Roo. I'm told young camel is less gamey and tastes very good. I'd like to try it.

Thank you for letting us into your home. You're living the best life, the way it was meant to be lived. Harvesting your own food and passing the same knowledge onto your children. If they were cooking camel sausages at my local bunnings I would 100% have a crack.!! ❤️❤️

Just watched this video, and I absolutely agree with what you and your wife say. The kids, when living with life and death situations, must learn about it and not be sheltered from it all. From Veg in the garden to shooting camels. I lived on a farm for a few year's when growing up on the Isle of Wight (UK) and was introduced to the ways of life and death and how my food ended up on my plate. It gave me a healthy respect and understanding of where my daily food came from. I love your channel and really appreciate all the hard work you guys put into producing each video. Thank you.

Great video, don't stop what you're doing. People NEED to understand you're just profiling your lifestyle with what you have to deal with. I grow up on a dairy farm in NZ so i've seen most things, death but seeing spring calves/lambs joy at a lush green paddock for the first time, something i'll never forgot.

Mom was born on a cattle ranch in remote southeast Alberta, Canada in 1929. She raised her three kids in the same way but we were born and raised in small towns and, eventually, cities. My kids were born and raised in a city but with the help of my Mom, they were raised in the same way. It was very important to me that they understand where their food comes from (also where their waste goes) so they would understand how important agriculture and land management are.

Awesome video guys, our kids grew up seeing where their meat came from , should be more of it. We have eaten Camel meat and its very good meat and yes there should be a Camel section in supermarkets. The feral camels should be harvested for human consumption every day of the week what a great resource going to waste . Thanks for putting this out there for the general population to see how a great resource can be harvested. 👍👍👍

I grew up in a huge mixture of places. including the city AND the bush. IU associated with Aboriginals and dealt with snakes on a fairly regular basis. But I agree. My nieces and nephews are soft little girls who should be wearing an old woman's blouse, in comparison to me swinging a cane knife at 11yo! My rels are in their 20's and act like 10yo's. Pure city life is definitely not good for a person.

@@jack_out_the_backPut sodium nitrite in the mix, about 0.02%. If you have large diameter sausage skins, best, hang them in the fridge for one to two weeks, until they lose 30% weight. I made pork and beef mix, in pig intestine, it is a bit dried out, but is salami, you need 30% fat, pig back fat is what is used.

Just found the channel, v interesting, not had camel sausage but have had various camel parts cooked numerous ways in the middle east, don't have em in the UK, so I mainly deal with deer, pigs, small game and birds. I do however have a similar attitude to utilizing the harvest as best as possible. Great to see all aspects of station life, been in Oz a number of times, loved the top end, spent a while up near Jabiru & Mt Borrodale getting rid of pigs with some shooters couldn't get over the scale of the damage they did tbh. A right hassle getting the gun in & the license, it was made easier with a few resident recommendations & indigenous permissions, I'm told its got worse not better & any good work we did has been eradicated by the fact they have restricted more shooters, politics aside, Keep the vids coming, all topics are welcome, ignore the haters, stay safe, cheers from Blighty.

Your kids are learning about food and life in the most natural way there is, those who complain about how you are bringing up your kids are those touchie-feelie types who are totally divorced from where their food comes from. And I can confirm the 'Banger' tale the meat content in them during WW2 was bulked out with stale bread that the bakers had not sold, the Bread was cut up roughly minced then mixed in with the meat the way rusk is today.

Coming to a Bunnings near you.......soon? They would be better than some of the mystery meat sold in shops across the country. I have found the meat to be dry if no fat is added. Same as kangaroo, in my opinion it needs added fat to make a good snag! All kids should spend time on a farm so as to find out where their food comes from. We were bought up on a farm in the 60s and were also by the sea. Fishing and shooting game was just part of life. Was trusted with a firearm at 10 years old. That was back when kids were taught respect and self control and responsibility. If you were caught pointing a gun, even a toy at something other than what you were going to shoot god help you cos you wouldn't have been sitting for a while! Love the videos guys! G'day from Tasmania.

Hey mate I’m a butcher by trade and can tell you how to stop your snags from splitting. Just watched your video on the ramyun and you mentioned you’d like to know why they split. It’s because they were fresh. If you had have refrigerated them overnight that will never happen. Our butcher shop produces 500-700kg of plain bbq snags a week. We never sell them until the day after we fill them as they need to set and the skin needs to absorb the moisture into the collagen skin cases. Hope that helps. If you even need any tips mate yell out.

A few years ago I was working in Azerbaijan where it gets really cold and I wanted a 'doona'. Well I got taken to the local market where I asked for a 'lambs wool doona'. They had NO IDEA of what I was talking about. They didn't have them. So I just asked for the BEST doona. They came out with this absolutely beautiful French-made doona....and what was it made from? Camel hair! That thing is waaay better than lambs wool and a lot lighter. It heats up to a nice 21DegC and lets the rest of the heat out. You guys should consider Camel hair doona's and make even better use of those animals!

Jack, just some advice if you don't mind, from an old butcher/boner/meatworker. The larger wide blade knife is a skinning knife, not for de=boning mate. the thiner curved blade is used for boning. I have seen some serious accidents where people have used the wide blade for boning. It looks like your knives could use a sharpening. Your mincer plates are not cutting efficiently as well, the plated need grinding from time to time. MBL in Perth Master Butchers Limited" do a sharpening service. If there is free play between the mincer plate and the blades just drop a small coin/washer in the back of the auger where it locks into the machine, it will take up any slack, Even though you do a pretty good job, I wished I could show you how it's done , even linking sausages. Hope you don't take the advice as too critical. Anyway, I'm enjoying your show. you're a good bloke.

when you power the scale on with the bucket hanging, and the scale starts at 0.0, there is no need to subtract the weight of the bucket. if you power the scale on and it reads 0.0 without the bucket, then yes, you would need to subtract the weight of the bucket. I imagine you could have a great dog food business using extra camel meat.

HEY guys been watching a few of your clips i agree with what you are saying about kids knowing whats going on .IAM just a bush butcher have made heaps of snags i remember the first ones myself and a mate did i you seen that show you would reckon a bloke was mad to ever do another we had 3 sheep in first go it took all bloody day. Have since done heaps sheep pigs cattle the gear has been upgraded over time and have got better mainly trial and error. I hope i csn give you a bit of addvice without being a smart alec first my maths would of been 26 kgs close enough is good enough with meal there is plenty of flavour using small bag of meal it says 9 kgs of meat i have used up to 14 kgs of meat so you cn see what i mean . When putting meat through mincer long strips are the go i mince twice use cause plate then finer more you push meat the slower it is i mince then at meal in a big tub my bright idea of buying a mixing attachment for drill was a god sent in winter with cold water . First and only time i used gut casings was our very first show now use synthetic quicker and less mess. FIRST sasage machine was bandsaw attachment then went to a old cast iron relic water presure great but heavey still have it then what you are using ony it is 10 kg one then bought a motorised one was great but kept breakin the cog mecanism t now bought another water presure one holds 10 kgs but is all stainless and ways about 20 kgs so far great kleen and quick . Hopefully i havent boored you to much anything i can help with dont be afraid to ask.Best meal for sheep snags bacon cheese and tomato all one flavor cattle beef made a steaket attachment pretty easy best cattle mango and sweet chilli not hot just good thats same deal its sasage meal.

There aren't many, if any horses left here, and we knocked most of the donkeys out. We had a strange resurgence of them last year that we couldn't track.
