They're territorial in large groups, usually when migrating. If you're lucky enough to just get a pair, they're usually friendly enough if you keep in mind that they like their personal space and you don't make sudden moves. A place I used to work had a mating pair nearby that lived to come say hi for lunch breaks, it was nice.

I live in a neighborhood that's right by a big lake with a bridge in the middle. A few months ago I started seeing these two geese a lot more than usual while walking my dogs. Finally I noticed there was something nestled in the brush close to the water. It was the mother laid on her eggs and the dad would always be somewhere in the lake or close by on land either keeping watch or getting food. For weeks this continued and the dad was so hostile it hissed at me and my dogs every time we crossed the bridge. Course I can't reallt blame it as one of my dogs is big and he was just being protective. Finally about two months ago the eggs hatched and while I only saw them once before they all moved the ducks were very cute. Even got some photos. Another I thought was sweet was that the community I guess decided to put up a barrier and declared the area an official wildlife habitat. There is no purpose to this story other than I wanted to share it and it's related to geese being mean although for very different reasons.

That episode was one big 80's homage and I LOVED it. First discovery of a legendary song, and Mama Duck was ABSOLUTELY right: those geese were NOT everyday geese and Benson should have gone down there HIMSELF with them! If SKIPS of all people didn't want to deal with them, you KNOW that those geese were BEYOND bad news, they even went after Pops!

Canada geese’s were my favorite animals to watch since I live in New York and there were a couple of geese that were nice and let me feed them but when I watched this episode as well as an incident that happened to me I understand that not all ducks, geese, and swans are friendly.
