Rich people are rich for a reason, and don't try to tell me that's not because they could make a nun have a spontaneous orgasm by wishing them a good afternoon. Impeccable social awareness is 100% the key to being wealthy.

Watched this video and was immensely jealous of the fact that I would probably never get to drive an R8 in my life. Neighbor up my street let me take a look at his '14 V8 R8 manual today. Whilst checking it out and talking to him he let me take it for a spin. Made my fucking day. Didn't even think he would suggest I take it for a ride. Genuinely suprised I fit in the car so well for being 6'8" and overweight. Car is surprisingly quiet on the road at low-mid rpms. Using the gated shifter is nowhere near as hard as people make it out to be, I was able to make swift and precise shifts without looking or thinking about the gates. That metal click is amazing and I now wish my EvoX has a gated shifter. Downshifting was nice, but my legs felt a bit too squished to perform at my norm. Only drove around the neighborhood for 15ish minutes. I felt really awesome and super cautious when driving the R8. That was really nice of him. #TodayWasAGoodDay

I think a good way to describe an R8 is that it is a professional fighter wearing a suit. He looks like any other semi formal dressing business man who probably has some financing bachelor's degree, but he has a deep appreciation and understanding of something he's passionate and capable of that is not just doing his work at his job, and he can destroy you when he wants.

A good way to describe the R8 is the supercar you get if you wanna brag with the fact that you have a supercar and gotta rub it in every "peasant's" face. Even though everything with the supercar definition walks it any day, be it straight line or track. The type of owner who wanks one off to the car even though it's not even that special.

That speech on the end was more beautiful than anything I wrote in highschool or college creative writing. Such passion and understanding, and really hit home with me since I too, am one of those types of guys, who drives an entry level sports vehicle (although sport bike, not car), and isn't interested at turning every head out there. One who doesn't own the flashy, or highest BHP bike, but one who does genuinely use 100% of the BHP I have. Sure, it's the smallest CBR they make, but it's mine. I've pushed it as far as it goes, not just in top speed, but cornering and breaking too. I know one day it will be too small, and that day may have already come, but there is something about scraping pegs on what's considered "barely a sport bike" that gets admiration from the true riders I meet. Sure, anyone can buy a bike and enjoy the thrill of riding, but there's a certain rider who doesn't shame anything below the very best. That middle aged rider who looks at my 125 the way a father looks at his son when he finishes Stairway to heaven on his hand me down guitar for the first time. He won't be a pro anytime soon, but there's a certain fondness for the newby's who love all of their craft, not just the extremes. That rider is who I actually enjoy talking to. I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you have to ask what the horsepower is, or why someone would ever buy that vehicle, than you're just never going to understand. You either get it, or don't. It's about genuinely loving, and defending, the vehicle you chose to get not because you needed it, but wanted it.

I will never own a "sportbike" bigger than 600cc. My CBR600 was right at the limit of power a machine can use in a corner, without losing the rear grip. I currently ride an 1100cc 80s Yamaha. Although every bit as fast in a straight line, the cornering just isn't the best. The fun part is making it handle that way with mods. Irespect small displacement bikes because they are a testament to riding skill.

Xtoxin loli-necronomicon Aston Martins are the type of car you want for the beauty and exquisite styling of Britain's best supercar, something for people to look at and enjoy and for you to drive in a fun manner. Audi R8 is something you buy to have as a regular car that can do it all and, while it looks good and people will like to look at it, it wasn't purchased for that reason. You bought it because you want something fast and fun and to fill your car guy enthusiast sweet spot, but can still handle every day routines and errands.

Holy piss I am supremely jealous of you! This has been my dream car for the last.... 7 or 8 years of my life. Every time I see a picture of it online or in a magazine, I just stare at it and read and re-read every word and sentence that the picture has to do with. I think I *once* saw one in real life drive ahead of me. Perhaps it was wishful thinking and I only thought I saw it from a distance, when it may have been something else, but I nearly flipped my shit. Very nice review, I loved the insight you gave and questioned on expensive, luxury supercars such as this. Thank you!

It’s a “regular car” in the sense that it’s more discreet than that of a Ferrari or a Porsche, or a Lamborghini. The body lines of the R8 are to make it look more expensive than it is, yet it blends its expensive girthiness with that of a TT Quattro, making the R8 look like a widebodied (Liberty Walked if you will) TT-RS.

bfchang I'd say neither. Those are like the anti-Miatas, other than being relatively affordable compared to a Ferrari. The Miata of supercars would be something that relies on simple mechanical bits, lightweight materials and an expertly tuned suspension rather than computer-controlled AWD. If the Alfa Romeo 4C or Lotus could perform like a Corvette Z06, that would be the Miata of supercars. Actually, maybe the Corvette is the answer, as counter-intuitive as that feels to say.

The R8 isn't for the rich man. It is for the enthusiast who knows that a Ferrari has nothing on a true supercar. The supercar with a monstrous father, the Avus. The R8 is the pinnacle of a supercar. And is driven by the common man with enough money to drive one. Beautiful.

My towns car scene is full of kids that don't get these kind of cars. They can never see themselves driving them so they don't get excited about them. I love supercars, I can't wait to own one someday!!! It's sad how people look down on things just because they believe they are being looked down on themselves. Generally speaking the only person looking down on them is themselves. I met a gentlemen at a track day with a gallardo superleggera and he was extraordinarily humble and genuinely interested in cars. It was the kids with Subaru's and evos walking around like their shit don't stink looking down on people. Hypocrisy is a strange and funny beast. To me this is a regular super car, I can see owning one someday a real possibility. Hyper cars like the veyrons and limited edition Aston's seem somewhat out of reach but I will still carry hope. This is the best review you have ever done!!! Fantastic work and keep it up. Someday I hope to carry on a conversation with you and Mr Roman because I find your intelligence fascinating. Cheers:-)

I've watched dozens of your reviews, and it's the beatnik writing that makes these great. This one has the best of all I've seen so far. I'm glad you've found the viewers to make this your livelihood, and I am hoping Jeremy Clarkson snatches you up and makes you able to afford the cars you like best. You make me laugh and the reviews are just the right amount of depth and ridiculousness. And then you say things like "Serious as Salvia" and I fall on the floor giggling.

Good review. Though you pussied it around like you were driving a million dollars. I can sense the owner was disappointed in you. lol Not because of social status, but because you never really felt the power band. You most likely wouldn't have driven that careful in your own car. Perhaps when it comes to future cars, you can sit along side the driver as well as doing your own filming driving, as they will show you first how they drive it, and then you can be ok with how that you really open it up? I really like the Hunter S Thompson style of the narration, though it is to calm, you sound a good bit like Mr. Smith talking to Neo. Still love it all, just thought you might appreciate some critique. I definitely see this car differently now, wouldn't have even considered it to be in the Ferrari realm. Its beauty is indeed growing on me. And I agree about the Italian stallion, it isn't done as well as it should be for the cost. Like a track car that is made to be a street car, and therefore people don't expect a lot from it.

You know, Audi, as a brand, is more of a low profile-looking car and that's what I REALLY like about it. It's something that wouldn't really catch your eye just cruising down the street. One way to look at the R8 as just a car? Drive it on a racetrack. Preferably in a scenario where it can be compared back to back to other cars, both competitors and underlings. The R8 is a track star. Even on it's OE rubber. Though, I am partial to the V8 instead of the V10.

Roman's narrative was so smooth and refined, yet embodied with the essence of true passion. Both Mr. Regular and the Roman possess linguistic abilities on par with Thoreau or Marcus Aurelius, but manage to apply it without a posh syntax.
